We will be on Boston on a weekend when the Yankees are visiting, so I'm very much inclined to go.  Tickets are obviously insanely expensive, but bleacher seats are available for under $100/ticket.  Anything in the boxes or grandstands are going for well over $100, and I'm not exactly sure I want to pay that much.  Does anyone have any experience in the bleachers at Fenway?  Or is this something that I should just splurge on and get into the grandstands/box seats?  They do have SRO tickets for $50, but my wife doesn't really like that idea.

Is there anything else I should know about going to a game at Fenway?  We're saying in Quincy and our hotel is right on the T, so we are going to ride that to and from the game.  We're probably going to the Sunday night game (an ESPN game, so it will last extra long).

Taking the T into Fenway

Welcome to my state! (I grew up and still live 50-60 miles to the south of Boston.)

You should be fine with the "T", just keep an eye if it's an insanely late Sunday nighter - it helps immensely that ESPN starts their games an hour earlier than a few years ago.

I'm not going to tell you not to go the bleacher route -- but especially if the Sox continue to stumble, wait out the StubHub route and just be diligent about updating your StubHub page and clicking on sections of interest.

I'm going to see the Brewers Friday night and on Tuesday scored two $190 face value (each) field box seats between the Crew's 3rd base dugout and home plate for $55 apiece. That's not the available norm as I type, but those types of deals will come up occasionally, and I got lucky. Now, Yankees - Brewers is a different animal altogether, good luck regardless.

I wanted to bump this to see if anyone had any advice.  We are taking our oldest son (10) as a surprise for his birthday.  We are going to do several things around Boston but we will attend a game as well.  I've never been to a game at Fenway and I love old baseball parks, so I'm really excited!  Any advice for things to do pre or post game around Fenway, please let me know.

There is a page on Facebook called Ballpark Chasers that will give you tons of information on every stadium in the league.  It is a really informative group.  Just make a post asking the same thing there and you will be reading advice for an hour.  lol

I plan to hit Fenway, Phillies, Nationals, Orioles, Yankees, and Mets next summer in one trip.  I've already been to the Yankees and Mets, but the guys I'm going with have not.

Take the subway/light rail to the stadium.  No parking anywhere near it.

Unfortunately the Cheers replica bar in Fanueil Hall closed down in 2020.  The bar that was the inspiration for Cheers - but looks nothing like it inside - is still there.

I’m so excited you’re doing this. My parents took me to Wrigley Field for my 13th birthday and I’ll never forget it. Amazingly I haven’t been back since! I visited Fenway for the first time last summer and it took me right back down memory lane to Wrigley. That place just radiates baseball in its finest form. The Sox fans are pretty great, knowledgeable and friendly. We were wearing some Mariners gear and they chatted with us about Julio Rodriguez and how they wished the Sox had locked up Mookie Betts.  Can’t remember who the Sox were playing that day but last year was a lost cause for them.

It was easy to walk there from the Green Line (which is such a cool experience to ride those old trains) and the Fenway neighborhood is loaded with restaurants to eat at prior to the game. We went on a rainy day and the stadium was maybe a third full and about an hour before the game I picked up grandstand tickets for $15 each on stubhub. The one not so nice thing I’ll say about Fenway is that those old narrow wooden seats with no leg room are truly awful. I watched maybe 2 innings of baseball and then walked around the concourse and across the street (which is part of the “inside” of the stadium). If I had to go again I would splurge for those box seats that are closer to the field and looked more comfortable. But how lucky are we that a living time capsule like Fenway still exists, in the middle of a fantastic city like Boston?

Thanks for all the information everyone.  OWBC - that's a great story.  I'm so excited to visit this stadium and feel the history.  I did splurge on some good tickets between home plate and the Red Sox dugout.  Fingers crossed for good weather!

Got back from our trip to Boston Sunday.  We went to the game on Saturday and I had to witness the Cards comeback victory.  Gross.  Despite the outcome it was a fun game to be at. The stadium is amazing and I felt like I had a perma grin the whole time.  You can just feel the history in there.  My son had a great time and he even got to run the bases after.   Parents got to go on the field as well to take pictures and videos.
