Both DSL clubs won today despite playing without Yeison Perez, Luis Lara, Jhonny Severino, Johan Barrios and Juan Baez, and they didn’t even have Anfernny Reyes, Osbriel Mogollon or Jerel Vizcaino on the mound.

That’s got to be a nice confidence-boost.

{Note: Reyes and Perez will show up in the box score, but that was just for the first 1.5 innings from when the game started a month ago. The team wasn’t leading when play was suspended and they didn’t play any of the innings today.}

I thought Ruiz was really struggling since joining Nashville but his numbers aren’t awful at all. Average at .263 and is still getting on base and stealing bases at a high rate too. Add in a few doubles and his time with Nashville so far has gone fairly well. Still think he should have gone straight to Milwaukee after the trade.

That's a big win for the DSL Brewers Uno - they'd been scuffling mightily this past week. I see they took the game and the lead on the good ol' wild pitch followed by the good ol' wild pitch. We'll take it!

Brewers PD agrees (as do I - he is a sneaky impactful player. Do not under-estimate his bunt prowess and ability to poke his way on base to cause havoc):

The numbers haven't measured up to date, but, my word, ACL Brewers Blue's RHP Anthony Perez looks like he could turn nasty. Sheeesh:

And, here's our first look at 2022 12th Round draft pick (Hinsdale Central, HS - Illinois) 3B Luke Adams:

Looks like the Nashville game is free to watch today.

Jacksonville provides a really nice Minor League environment too - they play the Sounds tough (as last night's shellacking would indicate). That should be a good one.

The Timber Rattlers need a win in Cedar Rapids tonight to knot their series 1-1 and have just the man to lead them: 20-year RHP Carlos F. Rodriguez (3.21 ERA, 1.14 WHIP, 10.5 K/9 in 81 1/3 Low-A/High-A innings) will make his third High-A start:

Just a week or so in and Ben Metzinger is already hitting clean-up. I guess a 10-for-34 start with a ripe 0.871 OPS will do that. Here's hoping we grabbed a good one in the 7th Round!

The movement on his 2-seamer + that breaking ball... whoa! Keeping my eye on Mr. Perez here, that stuff is filthy.

The Low-A Mudcats are targeting a 2-0 series lead at home against Fayetteville, with RHP Jeferson Figueroa (6.18 ERA, 1.47 WHIP, 10.8 K/9) making his 11th start (18th appearance) of the year. First round pick SS Eric Brown Jr. has hit safely in 6 of his 7 games for Carolina:

It looks like we'll have a double-viewing of Carolina and Nashville to start things off for me tonight - 4 pm and 4:05 pm PST for me. Then, I'll shift to see RHP Carlos F. Rodriguez take the hill in Cedar Rapids. If Nashville has a bounce back performance I'll continue watching our young studs in action alongside. I'm hoping for a Brandon Knarr bounceback performance - hopefully, he can take a cue from Lindbolm's last outing.

AAA Nashville is suddenly in a 3-game skid and looks to RHP Josh Lindblom to provide a 2nd straight solid start (5 IP, 1 R, 2 H, 9 Ks last time out), this time in Jacksonville. Brice Turang (season OPS .751) gets his 2nd start at second base in his last 4 games:

I can envision Ruiz being one of those “pesky” hitters who just finds different ways of getting on base and then wreaks havoc on the basepaths.

LHP Brandon Knarr (3.03 ERA in 116 High-A/AA innings) aims to lead Biloxi to a win in Montgomery tonight to boost the series lead to 2-0. DH/C Brent Diaz has hit safely in 8 of his last 9 games:

My personal (strictly guessing after many viewings of each player) opinion is Garrett Mitchell is the fastest of all four young up-and-comers in the Sounds OF. He's a gazelle. I think you toss a coin between Ruiz and Frelick - probably (?) going to Ruiz but, sheesh, I don't know. And, close behind with that long gait is Wiemer. Rick Sweet spoke to this in his convos with Jeff Hem during the home Gwinnett series - purportedly the veteran Stripers infielders were telling him how much trouble they were causing with their speed alone. He's never had this much speed in his clubhouse. Convo here:

They're singing the national anthem at Five County stadium and they're talking line-up cards at home plate in Jacksonville. Baseball is just around the corner!

Jadher Areinamo web gem to grab a 5-3 put out. Wow. He went horizontal and made the stab. Rose with speed and threw a dart. Man, I continue to love this young man's game.

AND, just like that , another sweet smooth swinging oppo double from Brice Turang. Man, his swing has become so easy and relaxed. To follow this sweetness, we will see the hyper-active Joey Wiemer. LOL.

Eric Brown Jr. says to Jadher: "I see you and I raise you a diving stop and toss to first from my knees!". Two gems from the left side of the Mudcats infield strand a runner at 2nd base. Fantastic stuff!

Jace Avina is must watch batting at Five County stadium. He just missed a HR to dead center by an inch on the barrell. That's the toughest part of the ballpark with the giant 25' wall. He hit it 101 off the bat into the warning track in dead center field. The air is deader than a doornail tonight in Zebulon. Any carry that's a goner.

Areinamo drives in a bases loaded run by taking a heater directly off his lead leg thigh - about an inch above his knee cap. Yikes! Catcher Alex Hall gets an attempt to knock some runs in here with the bases still juiced. AND, he strikes out on three pitches. Swinging at a high heater.
