Wisconsin has the early game today, counting on RHP Israel Puello (5.54 ERA) to lead the team to a 2-0 series lead at home against Beloit. C Jeferson Quero (.776 OPS) comes in with a 7-game hitting streak, including homers in 3 games during this stretch:

Joe Gray Jr. is up here with the bases juiced and one down here in the bottom of the third. Jackson Chourio has been moved down in the order batting third and he is 0-for-2 with 2 K. AND, Gray Jr. grounds into the 6-4-3 double play on the second pitch. Both teams have now failed to capitalize on their bases loaded opportunity. 1-1 and we are on to the 4th. This is Puello's second solid start in a row after an extended period of rough ones. It's great to see - let's hope he can continue this through a few more innings!

Just another caught stealing on a perfect rocket launch to second base by Jeferson Quero. I mean, attempting a steal on his cannon is really a precarious proposition. He is just so accurate and quick with that arm. The throw was utterly perfect after the baserunner had a really nice jump. On to the bottom of the 4th.

Well, Puello lost his control and the plate here in the 5th - this has been his downfall in his latter part of the season. Throwing 6 consecutive balls - walking the lead-off on four pitches and then falling behind 2-0 on batter number 2 - he hangs a breaking ball that is launched and carries just over the wall in left field. It's now 3-1 Beloit.

Chourio struggling just a little bit to close out an absolutely fantastic year. Few more games to go but already can’t wait to see a refreshed, one year older version of Chourio in 2023.

Takes a very questionable strike one on a high and inside breaking ball. Clearly didn't like the call or the pitch (especially, after the ump had been squeezing his staff). How does he respond? How about golfing a ball and crushing it over the wall in left field for a 2-run jack to take a 4-3 lead in the 8th. JUST after Chourio had another ineffective AB grounding into a double play for the first 2 outs. Electric. This young man is ELECTRIC.

Joe Gray Jr. follows with a moon shot triple off the wall in deep right center field. His 4th of the year. Two down, still, but he's standing on 3rd base. Man, I really really want Gray Jr. to put it all together. He has so many god-given gifts and an incredibly personable approach to being a professional athlete.

Do YOU doubt RHP James Meeker?!? I certainly don't. Three up. Three down. WHAT a win. Man, just awesome. Meeker is such a stud. Workmanlike. Never backs down. I will miss watching him pitch this off-season. You couple him with Quero's tenactiy? That's a combo. T-Rats win 4-3. Meeker ends it with a strikeout. He was touching 94-95mph on the gun today. He had that extra sauce.

Top 100 prospect. With his defense behind the plate, there’s no question in my mind he should be a top 100 prospect at season’s end.

I approve of this message. He's incredible. We're extremely lucky to have him in the pipeline.

Low-A Carolina trails their series in Myrtle Beach 1-0, but has RHP Max Lazar (4.22 ERA at Wisconsin before injury) making his 3rd rehab start with the team tonight. Offensively, 1B Jesus Chirinos comes in with a 21-game on-base streak as he finishes the season strong:

AA Biloxi has lost 9 of 10 games and needs a victory at home over Mississippi to avoid a 2-0 series hole. RHP Carlos Luna (5.21 ERA) makes his 12th start (26th appearance) of 2022. 22-year old SS Ethan Murray (.625 OPS in High-A) makes his AA debut:

After a 1-hit shutout loss yesterday, AAA Nashville looks to LHP Ethan Small (3.98 ERA in AAA) to earn a win to even their series 1-1 in Charlotte. 25-year old SS Cam Devanney (.823 OPS in AA ball) makes his Nashville debut after a recent promotion:

How would LHP Ethan Small give up his first earned run? Well, A walk of course. With 2 down and men on first and second base, he walks two consecutive batters. Sounds trail 1-0.

Oh Ethan Small…how the once vaunted prospect is continuing to fall down the list. He gives up a 2-2 double down the right field line to a lefty on a 2-2 count. 3-0 Charlotte now. Men on 2nd and 3rd base. And he gets out of it on a 2-0 laser shot line drive to left field. Man, he has major repair work to do this off-season. What a worrisome second half to his 2022 season.

I was able to take in the T-Rats game today and wow is Jeferson Quero impressive.  He's got that thick lower body that some of the catching greats were blessed with and appears to have supreme self-confidence.  Major prospect in the works, no doubt.

To top the day off, I caught Quero's foul ball down the first base line in his third AB.  Twas a good day all around!

Well hold that sammich!! We have a Cam Devanney two-run liner over the wall in left center and it’s suddenly 5-4 Sounds. Hey now, Cam!! Let’s go baby! His first Triple-A homer and pushes that OPS to 2.234 with Nashville ?. Back-to-back goodness.

Fear not, Ethan Small says not so long! Here’s your sammich! He gives up a solo shot and it’s 5-5. Yikes.

Regardless, heck of a debut for Devanney who is now 2-for-3.

I mean I said it after his last start, but Small really is just broken right now. 8 more runs. His team claws back and takes the lead…he gives it right back. Then loses it the next frame.

4 2/3 IP, 10 H, 2 BB, 2 HR, 5 K, 8 ER.

His ERA is now sitting at a ripe 4.53. sounds now trail 8-5.
