No! I put a lot of this on Yelich! Totally worthless the last 2 years! Needed for him in the 9th today and what? I knew it would be a strike out or an infield, pound it into the ground out! Totally Worthless! His numbers should be twice what they are and we would not be in the position we are in. *** is up with him?

Yes, because you are the expert on what I personally meant to say. After listening to the same few people on here incessantly talk him up over the past few months despite the emerging warning signs, it's fitting that he has now done absolutely nothing during the stretch run and to top it off had a crucial base-running mistake which cost the team two runs today. He's a former first round pick who can't make contact to save his life and is a huge negative on defense. Him and Yelich not performing like the "elite" hitters they were supposed to be is a significant part of our offensive woes over the last few years.

The regression from the bullpen this year has likewise been part of it, I will give you that.

I think it will be pretty close to end the season and the Brewers will just miss out.  In that case, the biggest question about this team might be why Andrew McCutcheon received over 580 PA putting up a 0.4/0.5 fWAR when players like Garret Mitchell in 1/10th as many PAs can put up 0.3 fWAR.  ONE-TENTH as many PA and he is almost as valuable.  Or Keston Hiura in 240 PA could put up 0.9 fWAR and Tyrone Taylor could put up 1.8 fWAR in 380 PA yet every time Counsell filled out the lineup card he made sure that Cutch was there while basically ANY OTHER PLAYER would have given them a better result.  It isn't McCutcheon's fault he's toast, it's entirely on the management that the worst option got AB after AB after AB when this team needed every Run they could get.

What a bunch of nonsense.  Now if you said a bad baserunning play was a fitting end.  Ok.  If we are bad baserunners

but to single out hiura who no one thought he would do anything this year and ended up being in the top five ops hitters on the team doesn’t really make sense.   I’d say he was actually a ray of light this year (albeit a small one) in a year full of underperformance.

this is what we call classic gaslighting for other crappy performances in the team.   The only thing missing is Alexander is the reason why our pitching is bad.  That would be the cherry on top

I actually agree about McCutchen's at-bats, but the problem is management can't rely on Hiura either because he can't make contact to save his life. His numbers were unsustainable and that has largely borne itself out over the last month or so when every ball he's actually made contact with doesn't leave the ballpark. I'm hoping Stearns (or Arnold) can find us better options in the offseason, because I don't see Hiura suddenly chopping the necessary 8% or so off his K rate. He also has barely walked lately, too, which a guy who strikes out as often as he does cannot afford to do.

And this is what I call a bunch of non-sense because you aren't even listening to what I said I actually meant by my statement when I made it. But whatever.

As I said, Hiura is a high first-round draft pick/former top prospect who is supposed to be one of our superstar hitters alongside Yelich. He has failed in that regard and is instead a borderline major league player because he's also really bad on defense.

Finally, I've indeed called out what you describe as the other "crappy performances" on this team, including the regression from the bullpen and the starters, some of which was caused by injury, some of which wasn't. But the 71 below replacement-level innings from Alexander (as well as those from Ch Chi, etc.) sure didn't help things.

Or Ashby, who was supposed to be our top pitching prospect throwing 98 below replacement level innings and of course he was a big reason why we lost another one of the games he pitched today.

Yes, he wasn't quite as strong as hoped. But he's got incredible stuff and is still developing, just as Burnes and Peralta were in 2019. You may remember that.

Holy crap.    Just glancing at WAR out of boredom (and by no means do i take war as gospel) our pitching was freaking horrible this year.    Worse than I thought.    And that’s with that ridiculously dominating first month and half this year

just a huge disappointment

The role Ashby should've filled this year was the Burnes/Peralta/Woodruff role they filled when they first joined the team. Injuries prevented that. Even so, I expected more consistency.
