6-8 weeks on the IL for Urías

Posted

Yikes! Just now seeing that Urias has a “significant” strain (6-8 weeks) to his hamstring … not a “mild” strain (10 days)

Counsell suggested it will likely be the max (8 weeks)

I surely hope the coaches will re-emphasize running through the base at first rather than sliding

All injuries are unfortunate, but some can be avoided more than others

We didn’t need to lose one of our RH power bats this early

That’s four fairly important players on the IL - Taylor, Urius, Ashby & Houser (two starters in that group)

Stinks.  I was looking forward to a really good season, possibly career season, for Urias this year.

The one silver lining to it is, it makes Turang pretty much a regular player to start out his MLB career.  He seems like a someone who could really take that opportunity and do well with it.  Here's hoping!

Right. Not only Turang, but we have Weimer now to gain experience and play.

For sure.  Didn't expect that in game 2 already, obviously, but expected him at some point not too far down the road with Taylor on IL. Hopefully Milwaukee handles the youth on this club, in terms of service time and development/playing time, in a way that we all are in agreement with.  😃

I have to give Arnold credit for not taking the easy path and recalling Toro when Wiemer's service time gains an extra year in just 10-ish days.

Anderson belonged at 3rd along.  Just sucks that it took an injury for it to happen.

This past I don't get, Anderson grades better in RF than at 3b so I'm not sure why people say "he belongs" at 3b, I've seen that narrative alot

Other than he's got a better fielding % over Urias in double the amount of innings. Sure stick him in RF where we have multiple options.

Ah yes cause we still use Fielding % as the defining stat for defense lol. But anyways I wasn't saying he's a bad 3b, just that in his career he's graded out better in RF than at 3b

I think an underrated aspect of starting Wiemer and Frelick in AAA this season was to make sure they were getting regular time. With a healthy Urias, and Anderson in RF, that wasn't a guarantee.
