Freddy Zamora with 3 hits including a 2B & a HR, his 5th on the year. OPS at .935 now. After missing almost all of last year due to injury, he’s come back this year with a vengeance.

This organization can use another SS prospect, especially one with some pop in the bat. Love to see this.

Carolina up 4-3 heading into bottom of the 8th.

Guilarte (1-3, BB) has extended his on base streak, while Jace Avina (2-4, 2B) and Jadher Areinamo (3-4, 2B) have been the other standouts at the plate.

Make that 5-3 with a Kalyan Nicasia HR.

Keston Hiura (after being picked off in 7th inning; went out to LF for 3 defensive plays) and Jeferson Quero (after popping out in 3rd inning; pulled immediately) both exited their games early.

Hopefully there’s no serious injury for either player.

Nicasia with the swagger here on his first blast of 2023. Born in the Netherlands, generally labeled as from Curaçao. Impressive walk rate this year. Switch-hitting utility man who primarily plays RF now. Collected a $125k signing bonus in 2021 draft. Turned 21 last month.

Other than the concern over Hiura and Quero, this was one of the more encouraging nights of the season so far. Saw some life from a lot of exciting young bats. Even Cornielle's start looked (statistically) strong before the grand slam, 8 Ks in 4.1 IP.

I think that was the craziest opposite field HR from Chourio yet, which is saying something with all of his opposite field HRs.

I'm genuinely curious if anyone can remember a player, at any level, who had so much power to the opposite field corner? It's uncanny.
