Voit DFA'ed

I think it was a poor decision by the Brewers to have Voit play the role he did, which was the weak side platoon. I do think Ruf fits that role better but hope they can upgrade still. A decent stopgap for now.

How many ABs is considered a fair shot?  Voit had 74.  Like somebody said earlier in the thread -- a combination of the plethora of statcast numbers can be put together to make a point.  Perhaps if Voit made a substantial defensive contribution, he would still be on the team?  His xwOBP has gone done every year since 2018 and it was a good move to make.

The reason why I ask about the number of ABs is how far do we extend a leash for other players?  Hiura had 266 PA last year and had a .765 OPS.  Taylor, this year, has 73 PAs and is hitting .171 and a .449 OPS.  Based on discussions and articles on this site, the leash on Taylor should be longer that it may be for others.

I think it depends on the player. Taylor turned into a pretty nice player over the past few seasons and always offers defensive value. You let him struggle through some bumps and bruises offensively.

But when it comes to a low-cost one-year player like Voit, the leash is (rightfully IMO) much shorter.
