DSL Crew Uno move to 20-11 after beating the Dodgers Mega (Gasp!) 3-1. RHP Enniel Cortez (who else?) shut it all down for the final 3 frames - 0 H, 0 BB, 3 K - for his fourth victory of 2023. It was a random DSL 7 1/2 inning affair.

Meanwhile, the Dos are leading the juggernaut Dodgers Bautista in the 7th of an apparent 7th inning tilt 7-3 but the lead-off Dodger is on first.

High-A Wisconsin plays at Reds’ affiliate Dayton this week, with 1B Ernesto Martinez providing quite a bit of the offense lately (.967 OPS in last 114 PAs). RHP Stiven Cruz seeks his third straight win.

AA Biloxi is in Montgomery this week to play the Rays’ affiliate. CF Jackson Chourio is 2nd in the Southern League in hits, 4th in RBIs and T-5th in stolen bases. RHP Tobias Myers looks to build on a decent last start (6 IP, 2 ER, 9 Ks).

Solid start for Carolina, as Nate Peterson retires the first 9 batters in order, a Jose Sibrian double brings home Luke Adams (single) and Jesus Chirinos knocks one over the wall. 2-0 Mudcats in 3rd inning.

It's hard to believe, after last summer and then Winter League, Chirinos hit his first long ball of 2023 on July 18th. Alas, here we are. Last year, he got hot right around his birthday which is in 11 days.🧐

OF Sal Frelick was bumped down to the 2-spot in the batting order. Urias is leading off - 1 2B and 1 HR. Frelick is 2-for-3 as the Sounds staff looks to kickstart their slumping OF'er.

Sounds had bases loaded in each of the first three innings. The game is 4-4 into the 5th inning. They just stranded men at 2nd and 3rd with nobody down. They then stranded men on 1st and 2nd to end the 5th. 3-for-13 with RISP to Jacksonville's 0-for-1. No bueno.

T-Rats have outhit Dayton 14-to-10 but trail 8-6 in the bottom of the 8th frame. They just stranded OF Joe Gray Jr. at 1B - Wood pop up, Martinez Jr. K, Mendez K.

So far tonight (as we head to the 8th frame) the dynamic trio of Black, Chourio, and Quero are a combined 8-for-12:

2 2B, 2 HR, 4 R, 4 RBI.

The future is bright 💥

Hendry Mendez's turn: he just grabbed the last out at 3B with an OF assist on a gorgeous accurate one-bouncer nabbing the runner by a few steps. Fantastic OF throws here late in these games.

Darren Miller HR #6 of his year. Drills it out to RF. 99 EV. 387 over the wall. T-Rats now trail 8-7. One down in the 9th. Let's go, men! Ward is at the dish. The dream is still alive. Ward ripped a double deep off the left center wall. One down. Ward at 2B.

Meanwhile, RHP Justin Jarvis just completed his quality start: 6 IP, 7 H, 1 BB, 6 K, 4 ER, 2 HR. Not bad as he looks to continue finding his footing at Triple-A! He was working fast tonight - something I didn't quite see versus the Clippers during his last melee-filled outing.

Matt Wood is flashing the leather here in the 9th inning as RHP Tanner Shears looks to work around a lead-off single and hit batter. He has 2 K's. Two down. Men on 1st and 2nd. Wood made a fantastic diving catch at the netting behind home plate and he saved a wild pitch advance with a very athletic stab outside the batters box as well. Fantastic stuff.

How sweet. It. Is. T-Rats win 9-8. LOVE it. Those wins are so satisfying. You earned it but you had to earn it. Shears gets another Save. I'll give Wood the Save too with that fine inning of defensive work as well.
