(Note: We were asked to kick off these threads a bit earlier than usual, by a week or two. You may see various updates shortly.)

Mudcats' Opening Night is Friday 4/5 - at Salem (Red Sox)

The eventual Carolina formal announcement will come directly from the Mudcats, not the Brewers.

The three affiliates who begin play on 4/5 will send out their press releases within an hour or so of each other once the Brewers have given them the official go-ahead to do so.

Feel free to link to any formal Mudcats notices you see.

Often, we learn via player tweets, who has been assigned where, prior to the formal affiliate announcements. We'll link to any of those posts in this thread as they come out.

As you might know, we use the "Your 2024" team threads to post and link to feature stories, including audio and video, that are outside the scope of game activity covered in the Daily Minor League Link Report.

These threads have become among the most popular for viewing here.

Please do not speculate on any player releases. Brewers Player Development or MiLB.com will update us formally.

Yophery Rodriguez will indeed follow the Chourio-Lara trajectory and skip the ACL en route to Carolina.

Wanted to come back to this when I had time, but I spoke with a couple Brewers farmhands while I was in Arizona who both said that Yophery is the most gifted baseball player that they have ever seen.  One even clarified that he believes Rodriguez will be THE star player on the Brewers in a couple years above Chourio, Contreras, Yelich, etc.

He seems like a great guy for our cats!

There’s a youth movement afoot, as four 18-year olds start the season on Low-A Carolina’s Opening Day roster: OF Yophery Rodriguez, RHP Josh Knoth (a 2023 draft pick), RHP Manuel Rodriguez and 3B/2B Juan Baez.

Oh yeah, and they’ve also got five other 2023 draftees: RHP Ryan Birchard, SS Cooper Pratt, RHP Morris Austin, RHP Bishop Letson and RHP Josh Timmerman

Thank you so much for sharing these tidbits. So grateful for what you share with us throughout each season!

My hyper byullish 'Brewer Fanatic Top 20' placement of Rodriguez - based solely on how the Brewers featured him ad nauseam in their Dominican Academy grand opening video feature (which was awesome, btw) - seems like a prescient move. 😅

Very excited to watch him stateside!

What exactly do you mean with the Biloxi Youth thing? I didn't see it, no. Nashville has kiddos calling players to the plate in the early innings every year - 2nd or 3rd frame off hand? It is absolutely adorable and I love it. Yes, I am a girl dad.😅

Via BrewerFanatic contributor Francisco Castro:

The “dad” Tayden mentions is former big-leaguer Toby Hall.

The injury he nursed and returned from in 2023 was his lower back.

Thanks guys, it's nice to view the finalized rosters for the affiliates.

The sheer depth of talent on the INF on both A-level teams is very, very exciting.

Also can't wait to see what kind of season Satchell Norman turns in. Heard good things but just don't know very much about him. Quick scouting report, anyone? Thanks!!!

Not a whole lot of scouting reports I could find on Satchell, but here is about an eight minute video from the ACL last year.

Listed at 5’8” and 200 lbs with shaky defensive stats (11 passed balls and 49 SB with only 6 CS in 200 innings behind the plate) his bat is probably going to have to do the heavy lifting barring major improvements behind the plate.

Good news is he has been up to the task so far with a 15.9 BB% | 22.5 K% and 317/430/455 (131 wRC+) batting line over 151 PAs in the ACL.

^^ What this HOF Legend said @Jim French Stepstool. Couldn't have nailed it better myself.

So excited to follow Carolina with all of the young talent on both sides of the ball. This has to be one of the youngest low A teams in baseball.

I really wish I lived closer to Carolina to go to some of these games, almost no chance I can convince my wife to take a baseball vacation near there.
