I don't have a problem with Rea being pulled after six. He wasn't as sharp as his stat line would indicate and Viera hadn't pitched in quite a while. It looks like Viera will finish out the game so the bullpen will be fresh for tomorrow. A good old fashion three inning save.

Still think he could have gotten 2 more guys before Vieira came in to close.

I dunno, I get having the confidence in Rea to get through another hitter or two or whatever... but there is also benefit to letting him have a 6ip, 2er victory in his home debut and let him sit with that stat line for a few days. Confidence is a real thing... and sending him back out there is going to save Vieira like .. 8 pitches? 10 pitches?

No reason to stay at the slot machine at the casino and beg for a jackpot when it has already doubled your money, you know?

He still has nothing on Houser

I'm not sure if I've ever heard of that happening before or since.

We found our after the game that Rea was also recovering from the flu. Dude is tough, a serious competitor.

Having him and Vierra cover all 9 is huge going forward

I like Murphy as far as team chemistry & personality but I’m not fond of his in game decisions - pitching substitutions or use of bench

I can’t imagine a better opportunity to rest the bullpen than today & letting Rea go 7 innings

Odd decision

Murphy’s postgame comments explain his decision to remove Rea after six innings - he was battling a stomach virus

Now that makes sense

Rea is priceless - as a baseball fan, I love having him on the team

What did Rea say when he came in after the 6th?

I now understand Murph’s decision - he said Rea was battling a stomach virus pregame … that explains his lower velocity & his only going six innings today
