Bad injury glad he is ok. No chance he makes it at some point this season I think. Really infortunate injuries to top prospects the past few days.

Could be a bad injury, or could be a short setback.  Lots of guys break their nose or have an orbital fracture and are back within a couple of weeks wearing a mask.

This is terrible news … I hate this for him & his development … hope he returns soon.

I will be in Biloxi to see the Shuckers play on May 7-8. Was really looking forward to seeing Wilken.

I think he’ll be playing again within 4-6 weeks at the most. Most player with these types of injuries overcome them fairly quickly.

He didn't say "all".

Yes, I can read. Was meant as more of a criticism because “he’ll be playing in 4-6 weeks” is just pulling numbers out one’s butt. Taylor Ward was hit and broke bones in his face on 7/29 last year and didn’t play again. Tanner Houck was struck in the face on 6/16 last year, fracturing bones in his face and came back on August 22nd. Encarnacion never played again. It depends on the bones fractured, the severity of the fractures ie. if plates and screws are needed to fix the fractures and the player’s pain tolerance. Regardless it’s an another lengthy injury to a Brewers top prospect.

Encarnacion is irrelevant to the discussion, as his career ended because of loss of vision, which Wilken does not have.

This is something I wanted to chime in. How will Wilken react to balls thrown high and inside? His swing timing may be off due to hesitation.  Look at the drop Yelich experienced 2020-2021. We may have just lost the next top 2 position players from the teams minors permanently in a span of 2? 3 days?

See, you could have just posted that in the first place (at least from the 3rd sentence on).

Overreact much?  Permanently??  Quero is 21 and Wilken's injury may not even keep him out the full season

Well yeah permanently.  Take his pop times. He doesn't return to what he was doing before the injury, that's a Permanent downfall in his skills.

Actually, he played in Biloxi last night, went 1 for 3 with a walk.

He's BACK!
