VERY successful return and 2024 debut for LHP Robert Gasser. 4 IP, 4 H, 1 BB, 1 ER, 5 K. We will take that any day. Let's hope he is fine in the aftermath. Sounds do trail 2-1 deep in the game - bottom of the 8th.

Mudcats are clinging to a 4-3 lead as they head to the bottom of the 8th frame in Zebulon. They are pushing to make it 5-0 vs Salem so far in 2024. Let's go, men! Pull out another!

INF Luke Adams has returned to the lineup and has gone 2-for-2 - with a dub and both RBI; you love to see it! Manfredi continues his mini-breakout tour: 3 IP, 2 H, 0 BB, 5 K so far. T-Rats lead 2-0 headed to the bottom of the 4th frame.

The sole Shuckers knock appears to be a Boeve 3-bagger. All other bats remain silent as the Shuckers ongoing offensive futility certainly has continued through 4 innings. That Campbell promotion is really going to impact this sleepy lineup in the near-term (in the very least).

Manfredi has 7 K through 4 1/3 IP. T-Rats still clinging to a 2-0 lead. He just walked his 2nd batter of his outing. Let's hope he can work around it. He is showing he is definitely an arm to reckon with in the system. Awesome sauce.

Welcome back to Nashville, Mr. Cambell. Despite the woeful two-hit effort by the team at the dish in a 2-1 loss, Campbell compiled two OF assists - 1 at Home and 1 at 3B. Great work by the young man. Sounds fall back under 0.500 at 11-12.

Manfredi escapes a runners on the corner one down scenario with a ground out to 1B for the 2nd out. A run crosses but the T-Rats see C Ramón Rodríguez gun down the runner trying to steal 3B for the final out. It's 2-1 T-Rats now in the top of the 6th. One down after Barrios lined out to RF. Adams will try to improve to 3-for-3 on his afternoon.

The Bats broadcast said that the Sounds do not believe Hicklen will need to go on the IL. Pretty incredible news seeing how much pain he was in yesterday.

Another T-Rats game and no sign of INF Ben Metzinger. Such a curious season so far. I'd love to know what's going on here (as I alluded to in last night's report). T-Rats strand 2 (Chirinos K swinging on high outside heat. Rodríguez weak fly out to RF on first pitch). 2-1 and we're on to the bottom of the 6th.

Right? That looked really ugly. Fantastic if true!

Manfredi-to-Kuehner it is. The Lefty show continues. He absolutely shatters a bat for his first out on a weak dribbler to the mound. One down.

Kuehner gets the punch out facing the 2nd batter - two curves expertly executed then the classic raise the platform getting the swinging K on a high outside heater. Next batter hits a chopper over the mound and into CF for the groundball single. He then gets another K with a gorgeous back foot breaking ball that sinks below and to the back of the zone to another righty bat. Fantastic inning of work. 2-1 and we head to the 7th.

RHP Nick Merkel with 3 fantastic innings of relief work (yet another completely unheralded but highly effective reliever - one of the better breaking balls in the system when it is dialed in) so far has allowed his Shuckers a chance to claw back into the game. So far? Not really in the cards as the offense continues taking prolonged naps. 3-0 Wahoos still lead in the 7th. Two down with Rodriguez on 1B. Come on bats wake up!

A sharply hit 3-0 fly out to the LF warning track off O'Rae's bat and a weakly hit grounder to 2B by Lara strand Fernandez at 2B after his lead off double down the RF line. It is still 2-1 T-Rats as we move to the bottom of the 7th.

This is good to see……I know some had almost given up on him a year or so ago……

@wiguy94and I have been discussing his resurgence since late last summer. He's been fantastic and we can only hope he nails down this role moving forward. That slider is filthy since he's been fine-tuning his 'in zone' mechanics. BUT, make no mistake: this impact dates back to late last summer when he really started dialing things in.

AND, speaking of the young up-and-coming hurler, he's on in the 7th for the Shuckers and has proceeded to K his first two batters swinging and then saw Lamar Sparks completely misread a fly ball to the warning track as it bounced over the wall for a double. Total misplay due to the wind blowing to LF. Should have been a 1-2-3 inning. Dating back to just last night that is two colossal misreads off the bat by both Rodriguez (costing the game) and now Sparks. The Shuckers need to pick it up.

Smith escapes unscathed after Sparks misread and misplay. He gets the full count ground out over the 1B bag in what proved to be a slightly tricky play for Warren who scoops it cleanly but trips a bit but makes it back for the easy put out. That's another scoreless for Smith.

AND, I spoke to it during Kuehner's last start: there was more to his arsenal than what the results show (tis why watching the games always tells us 10x more than the box score or stat lines). He has proved me quite right through his first 2 IP in relief so far today - 2 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, 4 K, 0 ER. He is sublimely mixing his heater up in the zone with a bevy of off-speed breaking pitches to keep hitters guessing. Several swinging misses on that high heat.
