It's embarrassing how our crowd acts when a fly ball is hit to the outfield.  Even short range flyballs have the crowd acting like it is a home run every time a fly ball is hit.  I used to make fun of Cubs fans for doing the exact same thing, now we do it too.

CHOURIO

It's Chourio!

C'mon people, be better, it's been months of seeing people here murder the kid's name.  Just add the "o" already.

CHOURIO

I saw a jersey at the game yesterday spelled Churio.    Made me grab my phone and double check

I’m not sure he misjudged it either……

His offer was for 3/16.5 million and the open market gave him 5/40+

It's fine if you think the Cubs are stupid for that deal ~ time will tell ~ but... there is zero doubt Mark misjudged what CC was going to get on the open market.

The Mets weren't even willing to meet the Brewers numbers let alone get anywhere close to the Cubs numbers.  The contract the Brewers offered is what CC shopped around.  Cleveland didn't want to get into a bidding war and they bowed out early.  The Cubs came around at the last minute.  It was a take it or leave it type of deal and well we know what CC did.  The Brewers had a 0% chance of matching the Cubs offer and I don't think they would have even had tried.  That is just way too much to give to a manager.

Brewers offer wasn't used in negotiations with the Cubs ~ per Bob Nightengale there was a lucrative offer from Mets that was used to get the Cubs to go bigger:
"He used the Mets’ lucrative offer to get a historic five-year, $40 million deal with the Cubs"

Nightengale is wrong.  The Mets never offered CC anything.

I was listening to a Cubs podcast and they were struck by how out of touch Counsell sounds when saying he was surprised by Brewers fans backlash. They also are shocked that he doesn't do much bullpen management that other guys don't do. They sound kinda disappointed so far.

Still way way way WAY too early for any real judgement on Chourio yet, but so far, he does not look good at anything.

I just came to say we have not scored on a Cubs starting pitcher all year. That is like a 30-inning sample. Wow. Please make it stop.

We scored once, but it's been close to 30 innings.
