When 18-year old Nicaraguan RHP Enniel Cortez takes the mound for Low-A Carolina tonight, he’ll become the youngest player in the 12-team Carolina League by almost 4 months!

42-24 High-A Wisconsin kicks off the Second Half at Fort Wayne with RHP Will Rudy (5.83 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, 7.4 K/9 in 46.1 IP) on the mound. DH Jesus Chirinos has an .826 OPS in 98 May/June PAs despite a .256 BABIP.

41-24 Low-A Carolina starts the Second Half of the season as well, on the road at Columbia with 18-year old RHP Enniel Cortez (5.55 ERA, 1.36 WHIP, 10.0 K/9 in 24.1 ACL IP, with 27 Ks vs. 3 BB) making his full season affiliate debut. SS Cooper Pratt has hit safely in 14 of his last 15 games.

25-year old RHP Chad Patrick (2.86 ERA in 66 IP) chases his 7th Win for 36-36 AAA Nashville, which trails its home series against Durham 2 games to 1. C Brian Navarreto returns from a March 30 injury and RF Joey Wiemer from a June 7 injury.

28-36 AA Biloxi starts its Second Half title campaign at Rocket City. RHP TJ Shook (4.86 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, 11.2 K/9 in 50 IP) gets the start. LF Noah Campbell has had a solid June (.996 in 49 PAs).

It might have been more groin than leg but we never got a good view. The pitcher left the game.

How about Enniel Cortez with four scoreless innings of 3 H | 1 BB | 5 K work in his A ball debut?

Aidan Maldonado (1 K) and Miguel Briceno (1 H) - yes, infielder Miguel Briceno - also put up zeros in an inning each.

Lotsa juice for the offense with Fillipo Di Turi (2-5, 2B), Yophery Rodriguez (2-4, SF), Cooper Pratt (1-4, 2B, BB) all having big nights out of the top three spots.

Wisco gets walked off in a 5-4 loss.

Will Rudy hit the qualifiers for a quality start with 6 IP | 3 ER | 5 H | 2 BB | 6 K and Aaron Rund followed up with two perfect innings (1 K) in relief.

Gregory Barrios (2-5, 2B, SB), Luke Adams (0-3, BBx2, SB, CS), Matthew Wood (2-5, 2B), Felix Valerio (2-5) and Jesus Chirinos (3-4) all reached multiple times.

Chad Patrick worked around 2 H | 4 BB over 5.2 IP to surrender 1 R | 1 UER with 2 K while Nick Bennett picked up his first save of the year with two scoreless frames (2 H | 2 K).

Joey Wiemer doubled, Yonny Hernandez & Brian Navarreto each tripled, and Isaac Collins went deep for the ninth time this year.

I know it's tough, but if anyone has just a range of velo for these guys(the younger guys)...Enniel Cortez, Gonzalez, I'd appreciate it. Not the end all and not everyone has to throw 98 to get outs, but it's nice to know if a kid with a projectable body is throwing 88 or 95...

Lone run came around on a Johan Barrios double followed by a Ramon Moreno single.

Eric Prado had 0 BB | 6 K over 4 IP but also gave up 8 H including back to back to back solo shots to open the 4th inning. To his credit he followed up that barrage with a ground rule double before striking out the side.

The Dodgers have a guy named Mairoshendrick Martinus.
