Contreras situation is sad. Murphy really hurt this guy.

Nah that record he broke was really important.

Dude might be at 250 by all star break. How to kill a mvp candidate.

Normal to have regression and down areas of the season…can still give him time off. And he has had off days catching with the DH.

Yep…waiting til after the draft seems silly.

Playing a catcher every day is never smart. The wear and tear that they take means they need days off more than any other position player. Its a reason why I would never pay any catcher big money into their mid 30s.

We came into the season with a rotation of Freddy and a bunch of guys who would be lucky to be decent 4th or 5th starters. There was literally no chance this rotation had of being good but getting the least innings per start is about as bad is it could be.

But I heard he's looking for a DeLorean with a flux capacitor.

Contreras hasn't been right since the Pham incident 3 weeks ago it seems. How the heck did Murphy hurt him?

Amazing how many times a team trys to finish off a big lead with an end of the rotation guy only to end up using the closer anyways.

My take is he wore down and a pace quicker than he would have had he been given occasional full days off. I guess we will never know but it was a dumb thing to do given his importance.

Plus Contreras was on concussion protocol a week ago.

I agree he does need an occasional day off.

I said that from the start this rotation was poor at best. This also taxed the Bullpen which you are seeing. But there is no way Contreas and Willy should be playing every day this hurt both those players long term. The brewers Fo missed the ball at the start of the season by not adding a Fa starter. Yes could not predicted these injuries but it not like they were top of the line guys. Not sure what Matt can do at this point as many teams are in the playoff race

I agree 100% we need a good starter bad.

I missed much of the game due to all the meteorologists getting their chance to be rockstars tonight. From the little bit I saw, it's been a long time since I've seen a pitcher look as mediocre & still get 5 shutout innings as Vasquez did. Rodriguez was eerily similar to his first couple times out--Good for 2-3 innings then ugliness.

I said yesterday the series reminded me of the one last year in Atlanta. I have a better comp--for those old enough to remember, the final series of '82 in Baltimore. Before winning the finale, you just had the feeling during the previous three games they weren't winning, no matter what they did or how the game went.

3-4 western trip is seldom a bad thing, if they can find a way tomorrow.
