Darrien Miller is really having an intriguing season. He's handling the Lion's share of the catching duties for Biloxi. He has elevated his CS% over the past two seasons to respectable rates - sitting at 19% after tonight in 2024. He's really flipped his K:BB rates to a fascinating 39:40, respectively. You couple that with the absurd amount he gets on base via bean balls and we're really holding out hope he re-discovers at least a modicum more power and hopefully an ability to start knocking in more runs. I personally feel like the Brewers as an org would benefit greatly in his offensive development if they simply gave him a place in the batting order to work on. They tend to throw him all up and down that order. Now that they have O'Rae in a designated lead-off role, I would love to see them give Miller a month of expectations in a single place in the batting order. Perhaps this is wishful thinking?

Craig Yoho on bottom of nine and he goes groundout, single, strikeout, “soft ground ball” single, then works back from a three oh count to get the game ending groundout and secure his first Shuckers save.

With two down in the 9th frame, Yoho just saw a 10 mph warmburner flub its way to the 3B side for a single. Men on 1st and 2nd now. Two down. He'll try to escape. Fell down 3-0 in the next count (ump blew a 2-0 strike call). Got two swinging strikes. He gets the groundout to Wilken who quickly steps on 3B in front of the slide.

7-5 Shuckers win. Yoho nabs the Save.

Zona Crew down 9 to 2 through four innings but Anthony Flores struck out four guys in the second inning so there’s that anyway.

Janson Junk came back out for a scoreless 7th (2 K) and Harold Chirino followed with a scoreless 8th (2 K).

Ryan Middendorf now on the mound trying to nail down the 6 to 1 Sounds victory.

So a 5-2 day so far (with ACL Brew Crew well behind and likely to take the loss, but it is Arizona, and crazy things happen).

Stars of the day

5. P. Aquino - 6IP of relief pitching, very well done, 2 H, 2 R (1ER), 2 BB and 6 K

4. Gregory Barrios 4-5, SB, 3 runs scored, and an RBI

3. Brewer Hicklen, 3-5 with a HR. But the two non-hits were Ks.

2. M. Rodriguez - 6 IP start with 3H, 1 BB and 6 K. Great start by the 18 yo kid.

1. Carlos D. Rodriguez, 4-5 with 2 doubles, and no strikeouts
