What kind of evil happened to Joey Ortiz when he went on the IL? He's a completely different player since he came off it than he was before. Like, completely different.

I recall he changed his stance to compensate for sore neck. Been horrible ever since.

I hate to say this but I honestly would look to sell if I am Arnold. I know it would go over poorly but this team isn't good enough to make it happen. Keep building. There is no reason Adames should be here after the deadline. None. Get something.

Trying to look at some old video and his pre launch hand positioning has changed and it looks like he's got more launch angle.

Early in the year he had a pretty level bat path

The good news is that the Brewers improved their runs per game average for the week.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

If he goes after the season do they at least get a compensation pic in the draft?

I don't usually have the rosiest of outlooks but I don't think you can do this, not just on the logic but on the kind of message it sends to your fanbase.

Yeah, they haven't been playing great baseball. Will get Devin back, should get Yelich back and those will be some pretty big additions. I certainly don't think the division is a lock by any stretch but if you had to handicap the current odds they'd definitely be the favorite.

Do I think they win an October matchup against the Dodgers or Phillies, no I do not. But as a small market, if you're not going to try to win when you're 5 games up on the rest of your division at the trade deadline, when are you going to try to win?

The story tonight was that it was a 7:10 start, but about 30-45 minutes later than that for Peralta & Adames. It just illustrates the sheer stupidity of an organization (and announcing crew) feeling the need to anoint someone with the 'staff ace' moniker simply because Woodruff & Burnes aren't out there. He's more than young enough to still have his best work ahead of him, but the deficiencies & inconsistencies are to the point of being labeled chronic after this many years. A rotation piece that will give you some great work over a season but not an ace.

It would be very bad form to the casual fans but many of us know this team is going no where and if they play it right they can continue to build things up. Mark A is going to have to decide if he will open the wallet for a big bat. Combine that with Yelich continued success and star turn from Chourio and they can have something.

If Yelich opts for surgery I'm not sure what you do. I'm of the idea you turn Haase into a DH for the remainder of the year at that point if he keeps hitting. If you hit you need to be in the lineup...period.

From everything that has been reported in the last couple days he's holding off on surgery until the offseason to (presumably) finish out late this year.

Of course you can't do that. I congratulate you for giving a lucid response.

They certainly would be underdogs vs LA or Philly in the post season. I guess some just look at that as a reason to wave a white flag. Others actually relish it.

Serious question. I'd really like to know your definition of "going nowhere". As much more than a casual fan I'd like to find out if I'm among the group that knows exactly what's going to happen.

Not for nothing but the Cardinals blew it tonight, so the division lead actually stays at 6, not 5 like I quoted.

It is alright for this team to win 90+ games this year without buying or selling.

We are one game behind LAD in loss column and PHI is 3-7 over last ten. I agree we are not favorites in the NL but we can have a good rest of July and still have ‘bite at the apple.’

I personally am team no rentals. If you want to trade for someone it better be someone with at least another year of control.

Just heard on MLB Network that Cody Bellinger will be traded unless the Cubs start a long winning streak like starting tomorrow, since they lost today.  Could be a fit for Brewers since Yelich has a bad back, but I'm sure Bellinger is making an arm and a leg and the Cubs would love to stick it to us if they could.

I feel like this team will make the playoffs, but it's hard to believe in this team making a run in the playoffs. There's still plenty of time before the playoffs start. Maybe some deadline acquisitions change that or the team starts playing better, but as of right now I feel like I haven't believed less in a team's playoff odds since 2019. The pitching has been what has carried this team the last two months of the year, and it's hard for me to trust this pitching staff in a playoff environment.

You're right, although they're still buying in all likelihood. I know it's the nature of the beast when you look at a sports message board, but I've seen futures prices that look rock-solid stable compared to some of the stuff on here. Some of these comments.........after admittedly playing like crap & losing a game, while previously winning 5 of 6. And I don't want to hear about being lucky due to lack of offense. They won games the way they're built to win them. And with the offense sputtering & rotation in flux almost from the start they're STILL able to do that. That, to me, should be celebrated.

No, we aren't favorites to go to the WS. But you'd think this is college football where only the top 3 or 4 can win it all. It's baseball, people.

Agreed, unless the rental aspect of the acquisition is mirrored by cheap cost in prospects. In that case I'd explore a rental.

They typically dabble in rentals quite a bit because they tend to be so low cost compared to controllable players. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see a rental bat or reliever added.

Agreed.  By sell I mean get a haul for Adames if possible.  50/50 we win the division no matter if we add or subtract imo so let’s subtract, get hot and win the division anyway, and be WS contenders the next few years!
