what the heck??

DiTuri strikes out and his momentum carries him like 6 inches into the plate, and they call intereference.

Really?

Really? At that time of the game? Particularly since the catcher had no chance.

Really umps? You choose that time to call that? After your horrendous out call in the 2nd against Yhoswar

Really?

He stepped out of the box and onto the plate. Automatic call. That's entirely on Di Turi. Should have just not swung at the neck high FB.

I had to do a proverbial hay bale of farm chores there. Paused all games. See Yoho take a comebacker and pulled (looked very pre-cautionary). Not going to look at comments 😅. I"ll catch up after watching these finishes.

Did he step on the plate. I didn't see but didn't look either

He looked like he swung and leaned forward because of the swing. Sure he shouldn't have swung, and sure it may be technically correct.

But what do you do. You swing and your body moves. And Payne was going to beat any throw.

Why even call it since it was close - let the players decide. I can see if it was flagrant, or a big movement, but it appeared very nonchalant and normal for him. BUt anyways, the bullpen cost the game. Maybe the manager was not up to par.

But a few calls were close and definitely questionable

in fairness never touched the plate  his foot was still on the white line

Di Turi stepping across home plate to get a catcher's interference call in the 8th inning sums up Di Turi's past two months in a nutshell. And, yet, here we are and he is starting this playoff game. Technical call. Should it happen in the 8th inning of a playoff game? Maybe not. BUT, Di Turi has not been good for over two months. Meanwhile my guy, Briceno is glued to the bench. Sigh. Just sigh.

THIS. AND, I go back to: why is Di Turi even playing as a starter in this game. The ACL hype has worn off. Play the best playing players. This is the playoffs. This isn't Tee-Ball.

Castillo looks at a 93 mph right down the middle. Leaves two runners on and Ks. Ugh FredNats still up

Meanwhile Pratt with a great diving catch to save the run.

2outs and runner still on 3rd.

I'm just going to say it: manager Nick Stanley has pressed all the wrong buttons late. Just hasn't had the feel for this game.

not sure why we pinch hit him for our highest avg hitter 3 innings ago...he came in for 2Ks

Bryant Ks him. And TRats take game 1

Huge!

Victor Estevez team is always ready.

Muddies showed what they are - fast, young energetic, but sometimes undisciplined. The batter interference call exemplifies that

Meanwhile - Pensacola is down 4-1. So that can help improve the Shuckers chances this week. Although not sure what that will mean given how full of malaise that team looks and feels right now.

TRats big win.

Muddies - learning experience right? But it will take an incredible effort tomorrow to force a game 3. We will see.

Oh yeah, Zamora stuck out on a beautiful breaking ball to end the Sounds threat in the 8th.

I may call it a night  - after I see if the Muddies can find a pulse in the top of 9.

Just to once again emphasize how badly the Mudcats need to rally here in the 9th. These are Travis Sykora's numbers against the Mudcats this year - 3 starts, 16 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 20 SO.

Yup. But it's 1-2-3 they go down.

See you all tomorrow.

Mudcats lose. Brutal. The tone of the game was set basically instantly when Yophery got thrown out at 2nd on what should have been a routine double.

The tone was set when their manager chose to start Di Turi. And then had zero feel in protecting that 6-5 lead. That's my take. Young team. Young manager. Austin definitely deserved better in that wild inning. BUT, it is the manager's job to lead the scene. I casually opine, he dropped the ball in clutch moments - including the choices and structure of his line-up card. I have watched this team all season. I believe my read is very accurate. You PH Yhoswar with Castillo earlier WHY?! As I said earlier: little feel for the game at hand in the clutch innings.

One of the worst defensive reps I've ever seen. Black needs to just wipe 2024 from existence once the Nashville season ends and come back ready for a fresh start in 2025

I mean, in the very least it gave me an amazing laugh.

For those at home...

Literally: what are we doing here? See the scoreboard? Two down. EASY play at 1B. No situational awareness here and Black throws high to home plate. Thankfully, Nava is an incredible catcher. Amazing. Just amazing.

Also it was a routine grounder right at him that ate him up and bounced away. It was certainly something to say the least.
