We have a great young team, but can’t afford A long-term $200 million contract.

why not let Adames go and sign a short term shortstop/3rd baseman who can hit 30 home runs. Add a better left-handed third baseman then Bauer, someone like Carlos Santana. Then try to find another starter that could be at least a two.

I understand the point of being cost conscious, but we can spend a little money for one year just to see if we could make it happen. If Brandon W comes back toward the end of next year, and everybody else stays healthy, we would have a legitimateshot.

Please show what short term SS/3B the Brewers can sign that can hit 30 HR

I am ok getting a quality IF and maybe trying to get a top of the rotation starter but we have a solid roster and really only have a couple places to improve. I like getting a young IF as the start to a Devin Williams package and then maybe trying to put together a package for a top of the rotation starter. I don't see any moves that make sense that I would qualify as all in. Maybe we keep Devin and go after someone like Bo Bichette who has been mentioned lately but I don't really see our front office doing that.

Trade Devin to Arizona for Geraldo Perdomo and a comp pick (I think Arizona gets one)

Trade Black (maybe add in a couple little pieces) for Jesus Luzardo

Trade Hoby and Peguero for 1B Spencer Horwitz

Trade Rea and Bryse Wilson for prospects

1)IF Perdomo Frelick 2)lF Chourio 3)DH Yeli 4)C Contreras 5)CF Mitchell 6)1B Hoskins 7)IF Turang 8)IF Ortiz 9)RF Frelick Bench)Perk, Haase, Horwitz, Mone/Collins

Peralta, Woody, Luzardo, Myers, Civale (plenty of AAA depth)

Megill, Koenig, Payamps, Hudson, Ashby, Mears, Yoho, Hall/Bauk/Uribe/Zas/Herget

I wouldn't call any of those all in but it would give us a no holes on offense the best defense team in the league and a rotation with 4 potential 1/2 starters and a glutony of young arms in AAA  (eventually Gasser with Ashby and Hall as well) because I built an injury susceptible rotation.

I've seen Perdomo mentioned in a couple of threads now as a potential trade target for Devin.  Can someone fill me in on his game, as I'm not that familiar with him.  Also, do we know if he's a guy that the Dbacks would realistically trade this offseason?

Perdomo is theoretically available because the DBacks have Jordan Lawlar in the pipeline, though it appears he only played 23 games in the minors this year dealing with a variety of injuries.

As for Geraldo's game, out of 324 players with at least 500 PAs over the least two years his standout traits are a 132 BB%+ (49th) and a 73 K%+ (51st) leading to a nice 0.69 BB/K rate (19th) on the good side, but only a 66 ISO+ (287th) on the bad side. That excellent plate discipline and underwhelming power output combined with a slightly above average hit tool (104 AVG+) adds up to a 99 wRC+ for the whole hitting package.

The aux skills come in at 25 SB / 5 CS the last two years with his +4.6 BSR ranking 44th despite only having 40th percentile 27.0 ft/sec sprint speed, while his fielding at SS has graded out at +6 by DRS and an even zero by both of StatCasts's Outs Above Average and Fielding Run Value.

Thanks for the breakdown here.  When I looked at his overall stats, I certainly wasn't blown away - but it looked like he had a good WAR, so I figured I was probably missing some underlying qualities in his game.

Doesn't look like a guy that would be an impact bat, but definitely a solid addition - and would help us with our SS/3B need next season.

I think Perdomo would fit our style well with solid versatile defense, good baserunning, and a reliable but unspectacular bat. At 24 with a 6'2" frame he could still at a bit of power and is controllable for 3 years. If I was the D-backs I would probably keep him and move him to 3B when they lose Suarez after next year (potentially).
