Marquette squeaked by a Maryland team and has its biggest test against Purdue on Tuesday.  Hopefully Joplin can play a bit better otherwise it is going to be a tough win against Purdue.  Parham looks really promising off of the bench.

Maryland isn't exactly chopped liver. No reason to be concerned.

Not concerned just a matter of fact that they just squeaked by Maryland.  This game against Purdue may be an elite 8 or final four matchup preview.  A bit early but I think Marquette can finally get that far into the tournament as long as they stay healthy that is.

I like this Marquette squad. They have some shooters and are pretty tough defensively. Is it a law that Purdon’t needs to have at least one 11-footer on their roster every year?

Challenge met and conquered.

One thing I was not liking in this game was the number of fouls and the times where it was stand around make one or two passes and then shoot a three.  The offense looks a lot better when they are attacking the  basket.  Need more of that and less of the stand around the three point line and shoot.

Now that was a statement game. Hard to believe that's Jones triple double is only the third in school history.

Yes it was, but I'm glad that the student body didn't feel the need to storm the court after beating a top 10 team at home unlike another certain team 80 miles to the west . Its still just a non-conference game in November, but its still a quad 1 win.

Marquette is going to need as many wins like this as they can get as the Big East is not as good this year or as deep as it was last year.

Agreed, but, weirdly, it might be better positioned in March than it was last year. UCONN, Creighton, Marquette, and St. John's should all compete for a top-5 seed. Xavier looks like they could be pretty good. If Providence can join them, that could mean 6 teams in pretty good shape come tourney time.

Villanova being in a down cycle hurts, and Seton Hall looks pretty bad out of the gate. I don't have a lot of faith in Butler. Could Holtmann do something at DePaul? Maybe, but that's a BIG ask.

Point is, I think there'll be a clear top 5 or 6, and that's better than the muddle going into the tournament last year. Makes it easier to separate teams close to the cut line.

Ugh, I fell asleep on the couch and completely missed the game today. Another good win against a previously undefeated Georgia team, albeit not against a formidable schedule.

Marquette wearing their Buzz Williams era jerseys tomorrow. Like those so much better than what they have now, but they currently wear is better to celebrate 100 years of the program.

I sure am glad these games are on FS2 so I can't watch them.

My package doesn’t include cbs sports network and fs2, which there are a decent amount of games on both channels. My favorite watering hole has both if I absolutely need to watch and need an excuse to get out.

looking forward to new rankings tomorrow. Marquette will clearly pass UConn and should be about 8-9. Obviously playing the badgers and iowa state makes next week huge. If the big east is indeed down this year these 2 games would be great wins to the resume in March.

But are they truly a #1 seed?  I am not sold yet on them being a #1 seed team.  They are good I am just not convinced they are that #1 seed team.  Though I don’t really see any other teams as a strong #1 seed team.

probably not realistically. Also with the Big East down its going to affect their net rating once league play starts.

Gonzaga has had four #1 seeds in the last 7 tournaments, despite coming out of a lower-ranked conference. I think that if Marquette takes care of business, they can easily be a #1.
