With Mitchell presumably out for the year, perhaps the Crew can shift focus to the Outfield to fill the need for a consistent power bat. Collins can shift from playing left field exclusively and shift over the getting consistent at-bats in the infield to spell Durbin and Ortiz.

Ward is far from a perfect player, but I can't imagine he would cost a ton, and he would provide the power we lack.

I like Ward enough that I wouldn't be opposed to him, I think the problem is that he probably would be the right handed hitting platoon in LF with Collins and/or Perkins. I just don't think he would play a lot, the power would be nice but as a negative defender limited to LF the past couple years the isn't much playing time to make an impact. He would be nice as a late inning pinch hitter but as a barely .200 hitter that is shaky as well.

The Angels are on the fringes of the wild card race, their disinclination to sell even when they’re buried in the standings probably means they’re not looking to trade their starting LFer

Except Collins hits right handed and Collins has a higher OPS on the season from the right side than Ward does.

If Ward were to come here he would be a late inning pinch hit guy exclusively. He should never start over Collins and you aren't going to DH him over Yelich.

The late inning RHB power option to hit for Durbin or Ortiz would be nice to have though.

It's mildly helpful that he can play Third as well. Not especially well, But at least it's another hint of versatility.

IDK. We definitely need some pinch hit power off of the bench a la Sanchez from last year. Outfield is really the only place that I can see it happening.
