Carolina Press Release:

Made to Play in MLB Future's Game

ZEBULON, N.C. – Major League Baseball announced on Monday morning that Carolina Mudcats infielder Jesus Made (mah-day) was named to the National League squad for the 2025 MLB Futures Game.

The game will be played on Saturday, July 12 as part of MLB’s All-Star event held this year at Truist Park in Atlanta, Georgia.

Signed by the Milwaukee Brewers as an international free agent in January 2024, the 18-year-old is listed as the number one prospect in the organization and the number 19 prospect in all of baseball by MLB Pipeline.

Made is the only player in the Carolina League selected to this year’s roster, currently boasts a slash line of .283/.390/.811 with four home runs, 40 RBI and 33 stolen bases.

This marks the second straight season a Mudcat has been selected to play in the MLB All-Star Future’s Game with Cooper Pratt chosen to play for the National League last year.

DSL Brewers Blue hosted a 7-inning game against Red Sox Red.

The Blue Crew were out-hit 8-1 thru 6.5 innings, but remained tied 1-1 (SS Leonard Rijo reached on an error, stole 2 bases, scored on a grounder), even with 3 doubles for their opponent against starting RHP Lonell Downs (3 IP, 1 R, 4 H, 1 BB, 3 Ks)

DH Angel Gonzalez tripled to opposite field to open the final half-frame and scored the game-winning run on Rijo’s opposite field single. 2-1 victory!

RHPs Johan Zapata and Jhosep Ospino combined on 4 scoreless innings of relief (4 H, 1 BB, 1 HBP, 2 Ks).

DSL Brewers Gold played a 7-inning contest at DSL Rojos, coming back from a 4-0 deficit thru 3 innings, scoring 6 unanswered to lead 6-4 after 5.5 innings, conceding a 2-run homer for a 6-6 contest, then pulling it out with 2 runs in the 7th to win 8-6.

C Isais Chavez delivered the big 2-out, 7th inning 2-run double to re-take the lead, after an untimely caught stealing (3rd base) and strikeout had them in jeopardy of coming up empty.

Earlier, 1B Matthew Moses and 3B Juan Martinez connected on their first career homers as part of the 6-run rally.

CF Kenny Fenelon reached base 3 times (double, single, walk), while leadoff DH Alexander Frias (single, walk, 2 SBs) and RHP Derlin Garcia (3-up, 3-down - 2 Ks) made their professional debuts.

RHP Gabriel Colmenarez had gotten the start (4 IP, 4 R (2 ER), 4 H, 0 BB, 1 HBP, 1 WP, 6 Ks), while RHP Fabian Reyes retired the final 6 batters (after starting with a walk and game-tying 2-run homer) to earn the Win (2 Ks).

Hayden Robinson started again - 2 IP, 2BB, 1H, 1ER, 1K

Nick Merkel with an inning of hitless shutout relief

Tobias now in. brew Crew down 1-0.

Tobias runs into some difficulties- a double, then a sac bunt and then an error and a run scores. A SB and another error and that runner scores.

Next inning a HR. Brewers down 4–0 and offense had two early hits but nothing since.

Royals have the lead off runner on in the 7ty and next gets on with a bunt single.

Tobias needs to get out of the jam. That’s part of the development process.

The Kansas City system has them bunting an absolute ton in the lower minors. We just played their A ball team and they’d bunt the guy over to second almost every time.

Good observation. KC affiliate has 35 sac bunts, BAL affiliate has 26, then a big drop off down to the TB affiliate in 3rd with 12.

Howzit workin? KC affiliate has 330 R (8th of 12 teams), BAL affiliate has 299 R (11th).

On the flip side, Mudcats are the only team in the league with zero sac bunts all year and their 400 R are two dozen ahead of 2nd place.
