The DSL squads dropped their games for the 2nd straight day (Red Sox Red 2 - 0 Brewers Blue; Brewers Gold 1 - 8 CLE Goryl) and were a bit less competitive than yesterday as well.

The Blue team made great escapes in the 1st and 5th innings to keep it scoreless to that point. We then stranded baserunners at 2nd and 3rd in the bottom of the 5th inning, before Red Sox Red scored via a bunt single, HBP and wild pitch to grab a 1-0 lead in that 7-inning contest.

Our standouts of the day were 17-year old RHP Diustin Mayorquin (6 IP, 1 R, 4 H, 1 BB, 1 HBP, 1 WP, 7 Ks; season ERA 2.87) and 18-year old RHP Christopher Peralta (4 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 2 BB, 3 Ks; season ERA 6.15).

Top offensive players were 1B Jonathan Rangel (2-for-3, walk; season OPS 1.076), SS Leonard Rijo (2-for-3, SB; season OPS .703) and 3B Juan Martinez (2-for-4; season OPS .948).

The Low-A Mudcats aim for an 8th straight win, which would also clinch this week’s home series against Kannapolis. LHP Wande Torres is on a respectable 4-game run (3.63 ERA with 21 Ks in 17.1 IP). RF Pedro Ibarguen has a 16-game on-base streak.

Payne replaced by Jose Anderson as a pinch runner during a double steal with Peña

Pitcher picked off Pena and threw to second, second baseman caught it and went to third instead. Hit Payne in the back of the head on the throw to third.

The AA Shuckers can take a 3-1 home series lead over Rocket City behind red-hot LHP Tate Kuehner (1.08 ERA with 31 Ks in last 25 IP). After yesterday’s game-winning homer, 3B Ethan Murray (.860 OPS in 220 PAs) needs 2 more homers to join the 10 HR/10 SB club.

RHP Chad Patrick (3.49 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, 9.0 K/9 in 105.2 MLB/AAA IP) makes his 3rd AAA start as Nashville looks to take a 3-1 home series lead over Charlotte. DH Jared Oliva has had a terrific July (.993 OPS in 68 PAs with 9 SBs).

19-year old RHP Manuel Rodriguez (1.99 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, 7.7 K/9 in 40.2 IP) gets the chance to lead High-A Wisconsin back to a 2-2 series tie at Quad Cities. DH/OF Steward Berroa makes his 2nd rehab start.

Chad Patrick has not walked more than 3 batters in any of his 21 games this year.

He just walked 3 straight batters in the 1st inning and threw a wild pitch. A Jimmy Herron error added to the damage.

Sounds trail 3-0 before their first turn at bat.

That’s a rough start to Patrick’s trade deadline audition. Guess we’ll have to keep him.

Looks like Carolina offense was its usual self - Adamczewski did not play probably a day off? Bjorn Johnson has really been good most of the season, but has some games like today and can’t keep the lead.

Wisconsin still not doing much offensively- Blake Burke is still ice cold since the break.
M. Rodriguez with a good start but pulled after 5.1 IP, and I didn’t have the game on so I hope it was a pitch count issue and not anything else 🤞

Biloxi also going a little cold offensively. Pratt really hasn’t had much of an impact in a while - long season and the team seems to be in his and Lara’s shoulders. Kuener with a good start at least.

After the first inning Patrick seemed to be great with no more walks and only 1 hit allowed through the next 4 innings. Nice bounce back after a rough first. But Nashville bats silent into the bottom of the ninth.

Wow - the weight of a potential winless day/night for the organization seems to bringing me down tonight.

Hoping Biloxi or Wisconsin can pull out some magic tonight.

The mayor heeds my call - Warren with a rbi double 2-2

meanwhile Wisconsin coughs up 5 runs and now down 6-1. They keep finding ways to lose.

It’s a long season I know but Pratt has looked gassed recently.
‘And a wild pitch by Middendorf. Ok. Getting tense now.

The Mayor says I have it. After a walk puts the go ahead runner on and after a generous strike call, Rada grounds out to Warren. 3-2 win. Woo hoo

Wow definitely missed that. Yeah my comment was not directed just at his error. His defense is still going strong, I was more commenting on his offense recently- not much pop and just doesn’t seem to be as dialed in as earlier. Maybe having to shoulder more without Adams or Wilken, or just the grind of the season he has looked different to me the past few weeks
