I do like the timing of the Burke call up. He has struggled here as of late but otherwise had smashed Midwest League pitching. A call up here should rejuvenate his focus and if he has a good showing, puts him in a potential spot to be in Nashville next year and one step away from helping the big league team. Pulling for him. Also, it does seem that opens the door wide open for Fischer to start in Appleton.

I agree completely. I'm hoping he's rejuvenated by joining a winning ballclub, because it had to be hard putting forth your best effort day in and day out for a T-Rats club that has struggled mightily all season.

High-A Wisconsin can earn a 3-3 series tie with a home win over Lake County today. Rehabbing LHP Robert Gasser threw 22 pitches in 2 innings on Tuesday. RF Kay-Lan Nicasia is in quite the funk (11-for-last-100).

LHP Bruce Zimmermann has been on a roll (1.67 ERA in last 43.1 IP) and is making his second start of the week (6 IP, 0 R, 3 Ks on Tuesday). DH Daz Cameron has a 1.266 OPS during his 14-game on-base streak. AAA Nashville needs a win at Scranton/W-B to even this week’s series.

The Low-A Mudcats need to break their 4-game losing streak at Augusta behind 18-year old RHP Tyler Renz (3.43 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, 8.1 K/9 in 57.2 ACL/Low-A IP). Will this be 2B Josh Adamczewski’s (1.034 OPS in 164 Low-A PAs) last game before promotion?

For the second straight day, Ray Delgado uses the ABS challenge to over-turn a strike in a key situation:

- yesterday as part of ultimately drawing a walk in the 9th inning comeback
- now today to negate a strikeout, before then drawing a walk in the 5th inning

Now Tyler Black follows with a sac fly for a 2-1 lead.

Looks like Gasser went 2 innings - Birchard in. Gasser very effective- only 1 hit and had 16 pitches of which 13 strikes.  Got a K, no walks.  Slowly making his way back.

Bruce Zimmermann dug deep to nearly escape a 2nd and 3rd, nobody out situation in the 5th inning.

He K’d the next 2 batters on 7 total pitches before allowing a 2-run single.

We left him in for a few more batters: RBI single, RBI double, ground out.

Sounds trail 5-4 entering the 6th inning.

The last double was well hit, and a very good defensive fielder may have tracked it down, but Black did not. Not saying he should have, but he was close. Dang it - took the lead and gave it right back.

In Wisconsin Birchard labors through gives up a hit and walk, but all outs via the K.

Zimmermann rebounded nicely with 3 groundouts in the 6th inning.

I didn’t realize how dire Nashville’s pitching depth is today, after a Friday doubleheader and after losing Henderson, Hudson and Peguero.

Holub, Yeager and rehabbing Zastryzny may be all we have available.

Birchard is doing Birchard things. He has the 4 K in 1.2 IP, but now 3 walks. And pitch count is over 50. Bases loaded trying to get out of the 4th.

Birchard escapes with a grounder to 2nd. Scoreless still. But he is approaching 60 pitches to get through these 2 innings. Aquino was warming up - wonder if they will try to get another inning from Birchard, or just call it a day having pitched 92 pitches in 5.2 IP on Tuesday.

After Scranton scored 4 runs in the 5th inning to grab a 5-4 lead over Nashville, the teams have combined to have 16 straight batters retired.

Blake Holub covered the 7th and remains in for the 8th. Perhaps Zastryzny’s rehab won’t outing won’t be until Tuesday.

Blake Holub needed only 7 pitches to induce 3 groundouts in the 7th inning.

But the 8th is a disaster: single, walk, 3-run homer. Sounds trail 8-4.

Yup wheels coming off in Scranton-Wilkes Barre.

And T-Rats give up the first run of the game again - Captains have scored first in all 6 games. Yikes.

AA Biloxi have dropped 4 consecutive games at Pensacola. RHP KC Hunt goes for his 3rd straight Win (11 IP, 1 R, 11 Ks over last 2 starts). 2B Jheremy Vargas has a 7-game hitting streak.

Welp. Black Ks.  His lack of offense now for 2 years running is very unfortunate.

Just needed one more pitcher available and that’s a series-tying win instead of an 8-7 loss.

Oh well. Good for Daz.

I’m guessing we’ll bump Abdiel Mendoza up to AAA by Tuesday for depth.

Jesús Made has been promoted to A+ Wisconsin.  He may not be the only one headed to the Rattlers either.

I've been excited to see what the will do this evening, in advance of the first MiLB off day after the trade deadline.
