Low-A Carolina is already underway in their home series-decider against Lynchburg. Terrific 18-year old RHP Ethan Dorchies (1.92 ERA. 0.92 WHIP, 10.5 K/9 in 56.1 ACL/Low-A IP) gets the start. DH/2B Josh Adamczewski (1.000 OPS in 176 PAs) is back atop the lineup after sitting out yesterday’s late contest.

Adamczewski returns to lead-off and the DH role quickly grabs a hit and a walk. CF Jose Anderson goes yard again - a three-run shot! Absolutely crushed over the LF wall:

Which brings me to: Does anyone know where Chris Edwards has been?

Despite depleted position player depth (no Boeve since Thursday; Hall hurt yesterday), AA Biloxi can clinch a 4-2 series win at Knoxville behind recently-struggling RHP Brett Wichrowski (10.2 IP, 9 R, 14 H, 11 BB, 1 HBP, 7 Ks in last 3 starts) this afternoon. 1B Blake Burke is enjoying his week in Tennessee (4-for-15, 2 doubles, 1 HR, 5 BB, 5 RBIs).

RHP Travis Smith makes his 2nd start of the week (4 IP, 2 R, 3 Ks on Tuesday) for High-A Wisconsin, which can clinch a 4-2 series win at Peoria. SS Jesus Made is off to a 6-for-20 start at this MILB level, with a HR, triple and 5 RBIs.

Chris is in South Carolina on a guys trip this weekend. He said when I reached out to him that he will be back the last homestand. Drew Belvins has been doing it. He is the Voice of the Fayetteville Marksman, a minor league hockey team.

Boy, my guy LF Tyler Rodriguez is simply staying red hot.  2-for-3, 1 R, 2 RBI, 1 BB, and 1 SB (his 21st). He is now 9-for-21 in August! Let's GO!

OH, and I guess Bitonti went long yet again. 18 on the season. This submarine definitely surfaced beyond periscope depths. Off the scoreboard:

Really nice to see this. This reliever gave the bats absolute fits earlier in the week. Muddies reclaimed the lead 6-3. Bottom of 7.

Let's make that 8-3 Cats! Adamczewski pokes an oppo 2-run line drive single into LF. Let's see if Dubanewicz can't close this out in full.

I guess I should also add: Rodriguez threw another runner out at Home! Man, his August absolutely rules. He now has 7 OF Assists on his season. Don't sleep on his defensive work - he's made some absolutely fantastic plays out there of late. Also of note: Anderson grabbed an OF Assist at 1B as well. Between these and Adamczewski's incredible chopper grab and tag DP work in yesterday's game one dub, the D is showing out.

What a fabulous game by CF Jose Anderson today. 2-for-3, 2 R, 3 RBI, 2 BB, 1 HR, 1 OF Assist? Ummmm, YES please.

After a miserable few games in May, and awful June, Anderson has been respectable in July and now August.

When was that at bat @Joseph Zarr - I mean you may have nailed it on when his season started to turn around. He still has a lot of swing and miss particularly on the offspeed stuff, but he is also so young, can't expect every 18 year to hit the ground running in low A 😉

Yes. He is on a little heater recently with XBH. Still Ks too much, and is 19 still - will be 20 in the offseason, so has time. But he just misses some pitches that he should hit, and the hole needs to be closed and we have a stud in our midst.

Both of these two guys have a lot of potential - Bitonti can absolutely be a 3TO player if he could mash in the strike zone which would lead to more pitches away and he has gone stretches without chasing too much. His is not the chase from what I've seen but the swing in miss in zone. Anderson has enough power to go along with speed, and solid defense where he can be CF or RF. He chases, but that can also be improved with time.

The AAA Sounds have lost 9 of their last 10 games, but will try to turn things around at home against Jacksonville. RHP Carlos Rodriguez makes his 2nd start of the week (3.1 IP, 6 R, 5 Ks on Tuesday). LF Drew Avans is on a roll: .855 OPS in last 97 PAs with 8 SBs.

Oh dear. I like this trend:

He is adjusting fine early on to AA. He was in a slump before the promotion (from ASG break until his call up really), but this is what we were expecting. Hoping to more of this this last month of affiliated ball.  I would love for Blake to force his way into the AAA/MLB picture next year.

His Shuckers mates are not so hot recently - Lara not hitting well and has drawn only a few walks recently. Pratt who has been streaky (good April, poor May, great June, poor July) is due for a good month, but not showing it. I really feel he needs to repeat AA, which seems like such a let down for a guy who was talked about (OK not seriously, but mentioned) as the next 20 year old to make the team a year after Chourio, and much of that was hyperbole and writers going with early impressions and Pat Murphy hot-takes, but a AA/AAA year and maybe MLB next year seemed like a possibility, but he does need a bit more time.

I don't know if I will watch Wichrowski start tonight - maybe - but seems every bit the typical has talent but walks, pitch counts and too many hits that has plagued him most of the year.

If memory serves, it was a sign of improved approach in like a 9-10 pitch walk in late June? Maybe against Delmarva? It was the best AB I had seen from him all season.

Wow! Great memory, it was in fact June 25th, and from your Link Report write up:

Since that time he is slashing .233/.305/.380, which is not great but respectable, and he was at .158/.252/.297 at the time.

Wow. Impressive digging! So it was Delmarva and it was late June. I remember, right off that performance I think he had an 0-for strineout buffet follow-up?😅

Yup- he was 0-9 with 4K the next two games. Then a couple good games, then a 6 game hitting streak, and recently he had a great stretch against Kannapolis and now this week.

Pitch 103 it’s a soft fly to left and falls. 2 run single. Decent bounce back game for Carlos, but got into trouble with walks and got the pitch count too high.

Sounds down 2-1.

Childers in.  Gonna take a break for a bit again.

The lifeless Sounds are on the verge of getting swept, at Home, to Jacksonville. They trail 2-1 in the bottom of the 7th. If they manage to lose this one, they will be 2-10 over their last 12 games. Ouch.
