Wed. 9/10 - Cornielle and Letson Make Respective New Level Starting Pitcher Debuts

This has not been Urias' best night throwing the white rat to first base. He just threw a hospital ball putting Seigler in harm's way on a sac bunt down the 3B line. That's two misfires to the 1B bag. And, now the bases are juiced with nobody down. 110 mph single. Absolte bloop goose snort into shallow LF. Then a sac bunt and poor throw. 3-2 game. Gasser is in a jam suddenly. Tough luck vintage baseball style.

Gasser walks in the tying run on a low inside sweeper after barely missing on an outside 95 mph heater - almost got the strike. Almost got the check swing strike. 3-3 game. RHP Easton McGee will inherit the bases loaded no out jam.

Nice work by McGee! He allows a single run on a sac fly. He then induces the infield pop out and K's the next batter. 4-3 Sounds trail. We'll definitely take that.

Quero K's on a change-up in the dirt in an 0-2 count with runners on 1st and 2nd. Wasted opportunity. That happens. That was just a poor swing decision. On to the 8th. Sounds trail 4-3.

Ooof. With two down, runners on the corner, McGee surrendered a 1-1 three-run jack over the CF wall. That one stings. 7-3 deficit now. McGee will call it a night. The comebacker off his lower leg to put runners on the corner comes back to haunt him. Ouch.

Another poke for Made. Two hits in two games at Double-A. The young man keeps finding a way. He has a hit from the right side. He has a hit from the left side.

Now, Black just got tossed after an ump, you guessed it, blew a call at 1B. He was safe. He very confidently called him out. That's two blown calls at the first base bag. But, hey, I'm used to ML umps blowing calls at 1B all the time.

Upon review, it might have been an out? BUT, what happened to that old old baseball rule 'Tie goes to the runner'? Does it even exist any more? I'm crying over here. Crying. 😁

Brutal night at the dish for SS Ethan Murray who leaves his 4th AB wearing the golden sombrero. The adjustment to Triple-A baseball has been unkind for Murray. Not a smooth transition.

We've lauded Doule-A C Matt Wood for his surge in CS %. Tonight is not that night. He has seen 7 SB cross his ledger. He's dropped numerous balls in transfers. He's held balls. He's thrown weakly to 2B. I opine he likely gets the night off tomorrow.

So Letson starts out well but has a rough inning.
‘Cornielle struggles at first but has a respectable outing but Gasser loses the lead?!?

Pratt is injured on a HBP?

🤔😩😥

At least we have Made in AA.

ugh. On a day when the Brewers have tested my faith with a disastrous 3 game sweep, I really needed a feel good night in the minors.

Thanks again for the updates @Joseph Zarr  at least I got to feel the pain in semi-real time 😉

And, now the home plate ump blows a strike absolutely dead center in a 2-0 count. He runs someone barking in the Shuckers dugout. Brutal miss by Blue. Ugh. Now a 3-0 count unfairly for RHP Austin Roberts

Roberts got a first out fly out to the LF corner. He's now allowed consecutive singles to LF. Two on. One down. 7-6 Shuckers clinging. Bottom of the 9th. Josh Spence will visit the mound.

AND, he loses the lead. Hard hit single off the glove of the diving Blake Burke and into RF. 7-7 game. To Burke's right. That kind of night indeed.

Meanwhile Cameron tripled with one down off old friend RHP Enoli Paredes. 7-4. Urias then hit into the game-ending DP. Sounds lose 7-4.

Roberts escapes further damage with a K looking at a hanging breaker. Absolutely fooled the batter there. He strands two. 7-7 and we begrudgingly head to the 10th. 😅

Another day in the life of a baseball fan. Stay thirsty, my friend. Stay thirsty.

Wood immediately grabs the lead on a flared single into shallow LF past the leaping chasing SS. Restituyo scores from 2B (must have pinch run/pinch hit for the DH Mike Boeve). 8-7 game. Wood at 1B. Spain to the dish.

Spain K's swinging at his kryptonite: the low sinking off-speed pitch. Two massive hacks. Two massive misses. One down. Wood still at 1B for EBJ who promptly miscues a sneak bunt attempt and pops it out to the mound. Classic. EBJ can't get out of his own way at the dish. 😅

Lara have a night! Hits a double into the LF corner advancing Wood to 3B. Hey, if EBJ could execute a bunt that scores the second runner. Lara on base five times tonight. What a stud.

After a one out (sac bunt) K, underrated defensive 3B Brock Wilken snares a 1-0 hard hit liner toward the 3B bag. Game winning grab right there from Brock! Whew. 8-7 victory in 10 innings. Heck of a reaction in crunch time. Full extension.

Gasser throws three sweepers in a row. He gets his second K of his inning.

I ask us: Why the heck is LHP Robert Gasser pitching as a Sound? Why is RHP Craig Yoho back in the Sounds bullpen? Mysterious pitching staff decisions afoot up in Milwaukee if you ask me. Both of these arms 'should' be eating innings for the Brewers. I personally don't see this as a hot take. This is pretty obvious baseball observation.

Because the team said they wanted Gasser to pitch out of the pen in Nashville before they bring him up. Get some of the new routines of being a bullpen arm under his belt before the callup.

Posted

Since they can't call Gasser up until Sunday maybe one more bullpen game in the minors and call him up for the Angels series. If Megill and Mears are ready though may not be spot.

Seigler grounds out a wet turd dribbler to the mound on the first pitch.

Kudos for introducing us to “wet turd dribbler” and “goose bloop snort” in the same thread.

Farm influence showing! Love it!
