I'm cautiously optimistic that Durbin will not have a sophomore slump like Ortiz had, but what do we do if he does hit the wall?  They can't possibly weather 2 of Ortiz in the batting order. I think they'd be foolish not to try to be prepared.  Certainly Bregman and Suarez are out of reach, but what about Moncada?  The dude can hit, he just can't stay healthy.  What about him as a fallback 3rd baseman.  If Durbin flounders, put him at third,  then have Turang who can slide to SS if necessary.  The let Ortiz and Durbin and Monty duke it out for playing time.  I don't see a viable alternative on the roster.  Thoughts?

-10 DRS and -13 OAA in 593 innings at 3B in 2025. Probably not competent enough with the glove at this point for the Brewers to seriously consider him for a roster spot.

Davis Schneider is the guy to pick up if the Jays sign Tucker. Heck, Barger might be an option too. Both of those guys can play infield and outfield and fit well with the team.

Those guys would be interesting for sure if the jays were willing to move them.

while I was playing around on the Jays roster resource page… they have Leo Jimenez currently projected as missing the roster. He hasn’t had much mlb experience and is out of options, but he was a ranked as a 45 FV prospect by fangraphs heading into the 2024 season. Might be a shot in the dark if the price is right. The lack of options really makes him tough to roster so it’d have to be a low investment. It’s also possible he’s just worse than Monasterio

The Brewers just terminated their deal with Fanduel so they're probably going to get less by joining MLB. The farm loaded with infield prospects including Cooper Pratt who's as likely to help as any veteran we'd bring in as a backup plan. It seems like a waste to spend limited resources on a plan B that is no more likely to be productive than our current plan B.

There needs to be a King Thames version of the bible.
