"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

Made finishes four for five with a walk, a stolen base and a solo shot in a 9-8 Shuckers loss.

Burke also hit his third four bagger of the season.

Sounds prevail 7-5 with five scoreless frames from the pen…

Holub (2 IP | BB | 3 K)
McGee (1 IP | K)
Fitzpatrick (1 IP | H | K)
Bowman (0.2 IP | BB | K)
Childers (0.1 IP | K)

Lotsa little contributions up and down the lineup with everyone reaching base at least once but Luke Adams had the big day with a single, a homer and an HBP.

It wouldn’t be a big Luke Adams day without a hit by pitch.

Payton Niksch (RHP, Kankakee CC 2025) makes his pro debut after two solid innings from Bonnet and Garrett Hodges (repeating Low-A after an interesting pro debut in 2025).

Niksch gave up some loud contact to the first two (3B, SF) but then had little trouble getting the final two outs.

This trio represents some of the older pitchers on the roster so it's nice to see effective out-getting.

Wild play in the 6th.

Handelfry nailed a runner at 3B from RF with a very impressive throw. Di Turri tagged and then fired to 1B to get the retreating batter, but the ump missed the tag and called him safe. Next batter; home run. Tie game. Not fair. Niksch muttering to himself.

7th Inning Rally

  • Patient at-bat from Luis Corobo - BB
  • Weak contact bloop from Luiyin Alastre - 1B
  • Hard line drive through infield from Luis Lameda - 1B + 2 base error on the relay which would have gunned down Alastre if accurate
  • Ripped line drive double pulled in RF corner from Filippo Di Turi - 2B

Wilson up 7-4 heading into the stretch

Another UDFA, Tanner Perry (Age 22, RHP, Illinois St.) is in to finish things for Wilson.

And another mini rally in the 8th for Wilson's offense

  • Ebel Walks
  • Encarnacion Walks
  • Anderson Single

Perry gets it done. 9-4 Wilson victory

Love the updates this past week @Tedaldtada

I hope to join in a bit more this week or the following week.

Daniel and sveumrules are keeping it going as usual for them.

I will get back into it soon I hope and I believe Joseph will not be as hands on this season I believe per his comments on the minor league recaps.

Any concern for Wilken yet ????

14K  in 22AB is not a great start. But it’s only 22AB so hopefully he can adjust.

yes. outside of a 2 month stretch last year (April - May) and a good first month as a professional, he has had struggles. Now some have been written off to his injuries, so this will be a big test.

His power is legit, but his swing and miss is a real concern.
