The AAA Sounds need a Sunday win at Jacksonville to earn a 3-3 series split. RHP Easton McGee makes his 2nd spot start of the week (1.2 IP, 2 R, 2 Ks on Tuesday). RF Greg Jones (.795 OPS in 86 AAA PAs) returns to action after missing 2 weeks due to injury.

It would be really nice if we could get an update on Lara. It’s not normal for one of your top prospects to just suddenly be out a week with no explanation.

Probably the most frustrating thing about following the farm system is the ever constant air of mystery when it comes to personnel moves.

Mass Haas noted in the game thread from a few days ago that Rick Sweet had mentioned in a pregame interview there was a bug going around the clubhouse.

Believe that was what kept Wilken out of action for like a week recently.

Must be a hell of a bug.

If a GI bug, then yes. Since you can lose weight and risk dehydration.  If this was 20-30 years ago they are playing. Nowadays, why push it, just give them the time to come back at 100%.  Or it’s a flu thing and the fatigue/muscle aches etc can be limiting too.  Hope he comes back fine.

This is fairly typical, unfortunately. These minor league guys will just all of a sudden go missing for days or weeks and we won’t hear a thing until they’re back. Not sure if it’s a Brewers thing to be this tight lipped about injuries or if this is pretty typical across most organizations.

Gosh, Smith is awful for the T-Rats. Pena's error didn't help but Golly

Maybe he knew it would be a rain out - and didn’t give it his best. Just kidding of course.  Smith is a challenging prospect. As he has stuff, and he has stints where he puts it all together and looked that way at the beginning of the season if I remember correctly.  But then he hits a rough spot. And every pitcher in Appleton is in a rough patch now. Midwest league juiced balls.

Pedro Ibarguen has 5 errors in something like 23 games as an outfielder. That's impressive

I know we’ve been calling for some changes on the left side of the infield but the unfortunate truth is that Jett simply hasn’t done well enough to force the Brewers’ hand this year over the status quo, especially not being on the 40.

Pratt is closer.

Lara is the only one that you can look at and say there’s really nothing more he can be doing to get called up.

Biloxi’s rain-delayed game from Saturday against Montgomery resumed in the bottom of the 6th inning tied 0-0 with Matt Wood on 2nd base, Blake Burke at the plate and nobody out.

Burke walked, but we still didn’t score.

They’re now in the 9th inning, still scoreless.

Eddys Leonard was in a 2-for-33 funk, but just knocked out a solo homer to push Nashville’s lead to 3-1 in the 9th inning.

The AA Shuckers dropped their first game of the day (2-0 in extra innings), so need a win tonight to capture this week’s home series over Montgomery. 21-year old RHP Bishop Letson was terrific in his last outing (5.1 IP, 1 R, 6 Ks). 2B Jheremy Vargas enters as the sole lineup change.

Maybe we’re resting Dylan O’Rae’s legs a bit. He didn’t start Saturday or Sunday, although he did enter as a late pinch-bunter and play one inning of defense (second base) today after the resumption of Saturday’s rain-delayed contest.

Jesus Made just exited in the 3rd inning of Game 2, after a Montgomery single up the middle.

Made went to get to the hit up the middle and his momentum carried him toward 2nd base and his thigh collided with the side of Vargas leg. He walked off easily on his own, and likely precautionary due to the DH. He looked ok but probably a little sore on his leg.  Fingers crossed here.

weird sequence - a bunt attempt on the first pitch of the 4th, and it hits the batters' finger, and Montgomery was assuming a HBP, but it was rules a foul, and manager is ejected. The batter is out with some pain on his finger and Letson strikes the pinch hitter out.

Then it's Gregory Barrios up, weird seeing him and Areinamo on the opposition line up.

Letson through 4 IP, 3 H, 1 BB and 5K so far in this game.

Letson's line through 5 IP is now still 3 H and 1 BB but 7K.  He is pitching well. His command is not great, but he is around the plate enough. Just some pitches are off, but most are good. Looking more like the guy I remember dominating last spring, although the velo is not as high and the command not as sharp, but getting a little closer.  A full healthy season building up the arm and the IP is all I can ask for this young man.

Of the 6 games against Montgomery this week, the starters have done a nice job, here are 4 who went at least 6 IP:
Wednesday: M. Rodriguez 2H, 1ER, 0 BB, 5K in 6.2 IP
Thursday: Gillis 4H, 2 ER, 0BB, 7K in 6.0 IP
Saturday: DeBerry 3H, 0ER, 2BB, 5K in 6.0 IP
Sunday: Letson 3H, 0ER, 1BB, 8K in 6.0 IP

welp, Letson will not get a W for his effort.  A double off Birchard, who then looks like strikes a batter out but that beautiful curve is maybe too nice and called a ball.  Birchard is then a bit wild and walks the man. Next batter HR to left and it's 3-1 Montgomery. Ugh.
