jay87shot’s 2027 Payroll Blueprint:

[jay87shot]

I would like to run things back as much as possible however I do think we will be overwhelmed by offers for Megill and Joey and in turn have a more busy offseason than I would prefer.

We offer Bauers a QO and he signs else where, all other FA walk. Woody get a 1 year deal with a bunch of incentives with the Braves.

1)Megill and Tyson Hardin for Sandy Alcantara and a lower level pitching prospect.

The Fish need bullpen help bad and last year the signing of Fairbanks shows they are ok spending for it. By adding Hardin they give up Alcantara and we get them to add a young arm as a precaution. Alcantara is to good to pass up.

2) Joey Ortiz to the Phillies for Andrew Painter and SS Bryan Rincon

The Phillies move Turner to 2B and have holes at SS and 3B until Aiden Miller is ready. The Phillies are desperate to add some defense IF help and give up Painter and a talented prospect in Rincon for Joey. Again to good to pass up.

3) Harrison, Crow, Quero, and Adams for Hunter Goodman and P Wellington Herrera

The front office realizes that with Painter and Alcantara on board there is to much pitching depth. Goodman plays 1st and is the backup catcher this year, in 2028 he takes over at catcher full time. We give up 4 valuable pieces but also get a good relief prospect back as well.

4)Andrew Vaughn for Jeff Hoffman

With Goodman on board Vaughn becomes disposable and the Twins need a 1B bad make a swap for the high potentail vet reliever that takes Megill's place (as a setup man)

5) Sign Ildermo Vargas 1/5 and Brusdar Graterol 1/4 (incentives and 2 team options)

Vargas is a switch hitter who can play 1B and 3B and gives time for Made and the young 1B to develop. Graterol is a role of the dice on the big arm coming off injury

6) Extend Misi 6/100 (3,3,12,20,25,25) ($12 million signing bonus (2 team options at 30 million each) extend Logan Henderson 6/50 (1,3,6,10,15,15)(5 million signing bonus) (with 2 team options at 20 million each) and Jesus Made 9/150 with 2 option years (10 million as sigining bonus)

Spend the WS money on extensions specifically using extra funds as signing bonuses to get future uncontrollable seasons cheaper.

Our farm system takes a hit in the Goodman deal but the big league team gets better and the farm system doesn't lose any big time pieces and gets Rincon and Wellington back.

Not a chance in hell that is happening.

Arnold couldn't accept that fast enough if it were a possibility.

Yea, pretty far fetched. Brewers would need to add a significant piece to Ortiz to get Painter, much less Painter and Rincon.
