What would it take to trade Braun (Just for fun!)

I have the perfect trade idea. Braun and Hart for Garrett Atkins, Matt Holliday, and Jeff Francis. Takers? I just really want the Canadian lefty...

Braun for Scott Moore (pictured at left). They are literally the same age (to the day), and play the same position. Cubs might even throw in Jeff Samardjza to alleviate any problems the Pack has at the WR position.

No way I'd do that. Francis is nice but nothing special and Atkins and Holliday aren't very good away from Coors Field.

I pretty much agree that Braun is untouchable unless we get like a young ace (Hamels, Verlander type) and a position player (like a Rollins, Utley or Granderson)

I agree with Santana/Mauer for Braun, plus one decent Twins pitching prospect. Melvin would still be crazy to do it. But that's what it would take. And I don't think the other team would ever give up that much. Thus, thankfully making Braun untouchable.

Santana/Mauer/Garza. Then I would do it, although even then I don't know if I would want to trade away the huge star that Braun is going to be. Braun is is going to be a legit triple crown contender year in and year out. You dont trade that kind of player. Dont get me wrong a combo of those three Twins players would be great, but not for a guy like Braun.

I understand the fascination with Braun's value, but honestly, a year ago, people had Alex Gordon ticketed for 10+ All-Star appearances and Ryan Zimmerman was being measured for a bust in Cooperstown. And to be honest, I still value Yo more than Braun.

if you are questioning whether you'd trade Braun for Santana, Mauer and Garza, I think you need to get your head examined (no offense) Santana is arguably the best pitcher in the game, and Mauer is one of the top young catchers, a position almost impossible to fill. Add in Garza...are you kidding me? You move Billy Hall to third full time and you have Hart, Gwynn, Mench, Jenkins, and Gross in the outfield until the offseason, when you sign a full time left fielder.

Yes - but Santana is a free agent after next season. So we only get him for one season - and if we wanted him after that, why trade Braun? You could just wait until he hit free agency and go after him. So you would be getting ONE season of Santana, Mauer and Garza (who hasn't done too much honestly)

I am not saying it still isn't a good offer - but I don't think turning it down would be enough to have someone commited just yet. And that outfield you listed....that might be the worst outfield in the league.

Of course, the Twins would never offer that anyways...but you get the idea.

Verlander, Andrew Miller, Zumaya, and Maybin. Kill 4 birds with one stone. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif Verlander adds a power arm to the rotation, Miller is a lefty and has a power arm, Zumaya's the cheap future closer, and Maybin takes over in CF while Hall moves to third.

This is definitely a fun thread. He could be yours, Cubs fans, for the low-low price of Zambrano, Lee, Ramirez, Murton, and Marmol. http://static.yuku.com//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/laugh.gif

What about Felix Hernandez? He is very young, and currently has a 3.86 ERA. Do you think the Mariners would have to add more? Because he as well is young and going to be great.

For the Mariners, I think King Felix, J.J. Putz, and Adam Jones would do the trick. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

Hmm, I would do Braun and Hardy for Miguel Cabrera, Hanley Ramirez, and Chris Volstad.http://static.yuku.com//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/happy.gif

BaseballAnalysts.com has an article up today about how Braun's numbers this year are better than any numbers put up by a rookie who didn't hit .400 for a season in their career. That said, I could be amenable to a trade of Braun for Russell Martin/Jonny Broxton/Matt Kemp/Chad Billingsley/Scott Elbert/Clayton Kershaw....and Saito! But even though I know that is probably the sickest trade imagineable, I would still fear a Babe Ruth-type domination of our team. Well, at least we'd be set to see them in the NLCS for the next 5 years.

I think if someone traded both Wright and Reyes for Braun they should have their head examined. One or the other straight up is a very fair deal and given Braun's D, the Mets might ask for something else too.

EDIT: Unless, of course, all you guys are just kidding around in which case I'd say Braun for Sabathia, Victor Martinez, and Grady Sizemore. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

Jr. Gwynny, CV the Younger, Estrada, and Ryan Braun for Grady Sizemore, Casey Blake, and V-mart? I can only imagine the headaches Ned would get from putting the lineups together next year.

CF Sizemore

2B Weeks

C V-Mart

1B Prince

RF Hart

LF Gross

3B Blake

SS Hardy

BTW-I think Braun is the most overrated player on the team. He reminds me of the story of the talent agent who goes into a bar one night. He sees a cricket singing as a frog plays the piano. He goes up to the bar and asks the 'keep what he would sell the frog for, assuming the singing cricket would be much too expensive. The 'Keep then tells him that the frog isn't for sale but he can procure the cricket for $10,000. The agent immediately cuts a check and takes off with the cricket. A few moments after the agent's exit, another patron comes over to ridicule the 'Keep about how he made such a poor sale, to which the Happy Barkeep replies..."The Frog is also a ventriloquist." What is Braun without Fielder?

What is Braun without Fielder?

The best hitter the Brewers have.

Nicely played, sir.http://static.yuku.com//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/roll.gif

Well then let me ask you this, Who hit better at AAA, Braun or Weeks? And also, tell me again what our record is WITH Braun in the lineup as opposed to without? Braun is a great hitter, but so was Hardy with Fielder behind him.
