If the brewers make the playoffs...

If the brewers make the playoffs what teams would you most want to face? And what teams would you least like to face?

List of potential playoff teams within 4 games of the division and 4 games in the wild card

Mets

D-Backs

Dodgers

Padres

Atlanta

Colorado

Philidelphia

My List goes in order from most like to face to least like to face.

1. Colorado no real good pitchers, good ballpark to hit at.

2. Atlanta: Pitching is really bad outside of Smoltz.

3. Dodgers: No star pitchers some good veterans on the team.

4. D-Backs: Young team like us.

5. Philidelphia: Howard, Utley, Rollins will make it tough on the pitching staff. Great ace in Hamels as well.

6. Mets: Very good hitters, Glavene and Pedro equals a good staff.

7. Padres- Peavy, Chris Young great 1-2 punch.

Whats your list? First the brewers have to win the division.

Go Brewers!

Just gotta get there first. But I'd love for the Brewers to take on the DBacks or Pads. They're probably the most beatable teams of the teams most likely to get in.

wasn't there a thread about this just the other day?

anyways, I'd rather play the D-backs, due to our success this season and they match up well with us, in my opinion.

I think we have to root for Arizona to pull out the West, because if we take the Central we'll almost no doubt take on whoever wins the West. And of the options, I'd take Arizona.

Conversely, I'd most like to avoid the Mets in the first round.

I'll just be happy if they get there, but we've done well against the D-Backs both at home and on the road, so I'd like to match up against them. They have good pitching but their offense isn't that scary.

I'm with Toby. Though, should the Brewers advance and should they face Arizona, I believe they could totally take Sharpie.

A bit of a tangent, but the "if the Brewers make the playoffs" made me think about how long it has been since it happened. If the Brewers make the playoffs (or even maybe not this year, but in the next year or two), I will be almost as old as my dad was when the Brewers last saw the post season. That semi-blows my mind.

And I'd like to face Arizona if I had the choice.

If the Brewers make the playoffs there's about a 100% chance I'll be too hammered to care.

That said I'd go with the D-backs

The D-backs for sure. Another young team with a shaky rotation past the ace only they had a good defense. Hudson is out for the season and that is going to be a huge loss for them.

Funnily enough, I was just thinking about this before I even saw this thread, and thought that a matchup with Arizona would probably be the most favorable. The Brewers have handled Arizona pretty well this season, and since both teams would be extremely young, neither would have much of an advantage as far as postseason experience goes. I'd definitely love to avoid facing the Mets, since they just seem like the type of team that's been doing just enough to get into the playoffs before really turning it on -- like we saw in that blowout game in Milwaukee, when the Mets want to be good, they can be very good. I think the Padres would be a pretty bad matchup for the Brewers, too -- lots of strikeout pitchers and a solid bullpen, and their offense has come around with Milton Bradley hitting well.

I'd rather take my chances against a possible playoff rotation of Webb, Davis, Hernandez, Gonzalez, and Owings than Pedro, El Duque, Glavine, Maine and Perez.

Just get there, baby! Just get there. Once you get there anything can happen. Look at the Cards last year. 83 wins and World Champs. Once you get there if you get hot for two or three weeks your world champions. The playoffs are not about who the best team is they're about who the hot team in October is.

I think the worst team to face would be the Padres. Huge stadium that negates our power and forces into small ball, and there's no way the Crew can score against Peaves or Young. Mets would be second worst team to face--just too much offense for our pitching staff. I'd like to face Dodgers or D-backs.

I'm rooting for Colorado or LA to win the WC, and Arizona to win the West. I'd love to face Arizona in the 1st round, then have Colorado or LA take down the Mets for us. That's my ideal postseason.

pre all star break he's a super star, post all star break he's mostly just a guy in general. He's held upa bit better this season but his BB's are still way up and its pushing up his other stats.
