Dodgers Interested In Trading For Devin Williams

Brock, if you consider Ortiz and Hall sufficient trade capital for Burnes, I do not think I could endorse your candidacy for GM anytime soon.  😉

Hall is still a question mark but Ortiz will likely make the trade worth it by himself

I think you are obviously placing way too much value on one year of Corbin Burnes. 

Remember the 2025 MLB draft pick.  Could be around 33.

You are probably right, but the Orioles have the option of extending him. They are still in the mix, at least according to mlb.com.

Any Dodgers trade for Williams starts with Alex Freeland. Him and an arm that is squeezed out of their rotation. Don't think Freeland and Miller possible, but I would push for Freeland and Sheehan. Willing to settle for less than that on the arm side.

The Brewers have as much of an option of "extending" Burnes as the O's do.

I would agree for the most part however the Dodgers have some amazing teenage talent that would look great with our young guys. If we could get 1 of De Paula, Vargas, Morales, Quintero, Hope, Ko and maybe 1 of the younger starters with issues (most are hurt) Miller/Ryan/Shehan/Frasso/Hurt/Wrobleski/Hurt I could see that being a potentially really good package. Arnold could maybe even get a 3rd sweetener piece. I would definitely ask for Freeland 1st and then look at what other talent we can scrap away from them. I do think the Dodgers would be the perfect team to overpay for Devin.

Am I missing something with Freeland?  Don't the Brewers have enough infielders, and aren't we concerned about numbers at Tulsa and Oklahoma City being a little inflated in those leagues?  Or do I have the wrong Alex Freeland?

The Dodgers are in tax trouble which is why we could accept guys like Gonsolin and Lux maybe mostly for free.   So let’s say Freeland/Gonsolin/Lux for Williams .   Or Miller/Gonsolin/Lux for Williams.   Or finally Sheehan/Gonsolin/Lux for Williams.

Why would the Brewers want Lux? He is a very weak defensive 2B and a lefty hitter who hit .251/.703 OPS. Where would they play him? From what I'm seeing on the Dodger sites, it sure looks like they are not moving Freeland (their #2 prospect). Sheehan has regressed a little and might not be ready until late July or August and then on limited innings. Miller was beyond awful in the majors and not that good in AAA in 2023 or 2024. I'd take him if he was packaged with Gonsolin and something else besides Lux. Sheehan/Gonsolin + would be the second choice. 

Nobody seems to understand Lux is a free throw in with their luxury issues.   He is nothing to them but an affordable utility IF for us.   Not a part of the deal other than a salary that fills the Montasario role better.   Geeze H!

Lux isn’t expensive, neither is Gonsolin, and Sheehan didn’t regress, he tore his UCL and had TJ and won’t be back until late in ‘25.

No way the Dodgers give up Gonsolin & Sheehan in the same deal. 

Maybe we can get Gonsolin since he only has 2 control years left and should be ready to pitch in ST, although will probably have an innings limit coming off TJ.

Sheehan, would be a tougher get, imo, even though he will miss most of ‘25, but will still have 4 years of control starting in ‘26, and at full strength is a potential TOR starter.

The Dodgers won’t just give away these pitchers and are a tough team to trade with, with 14 GM’s and the largest army of analysts in all of baseball.

If he can play some 3rd along with 2B it has some value.  But I don’t think I’ve seen him play anything but 2B competently.

There's no way the Dodgers would offer that much for Williams anyway. My reasoning, is they're not stupid. 2 starters and Lux? For a reliever?
