  1. There.... it's back to maroon non-bolded, you non-color-blinded jerks.
  2. Ok, I have it marooned and bolded now.... offensive or pleasant?
  3. Well, the maroon looks better on my work monitor than my home monitor.... But it's still not overly obvious to me.
  4. So I tried casey's navy color, and now I tried his maroon color. While if I _really_ look for the links, I can see the difference in the color, but it really doesn't "pop" at all. Hey, maybe we can make all the links neon green and blink! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Underlining was overkill, but maybe we could try bolded navy again? While yeah, it would be nice if users went out of the way to make links pop on their own, the "wikipedia-esque" method of making words in the paragraph as links is a real nice way of giving the reader the option to click on a term or phrase for more info without being obnoxious.
  5. Hey, great catch, CRicks!... I'll have to purchase a copy... that's the first time our site has been mentioned in a publication.
  6. [ Sorry Brian, I hope I didn't offend you with my comments. ] Not in the slightest.... the only things that are offended are my rods and cones after changing link styles and colors multiple times yesterday. The navy looks pretty good... the link color I actually have in place is closer to black than the navy color Casey has in his post.... To my eye, it's much easier to see that color than the current dark blue I have in place to signify links.
  7. Usually I don't update the pre-arby players until I know for sure what they're making. ESPN.com has those numbers around opening day...
  8. [ I think with a good monitor, assuming you're not color blind, you'll see enough of a difference. ] Well, I have a good monitor, but unfortunately, I have a navy blue / black colorblindness problem. WIthout the links bolded, they look the same as the plain black text ot me.... EDIT: How about the maroon color, non-bolded?
  9. Ok, i've made links blue and bold with an underline on the hover.... does that look alright?
  10. I wish there were some sort of happy compromise. I really don't think our users should have to go out of our way to make links stand out, but having _everything_ underlined is god awful. Is there an alternative color we can use for links? The blue was mentioned, but will that really stand out enough to have an impact? What I don't want is to have to drag my mouse over paragraphs to see if any words are links....
  11. A couple of guys I know from the fansite alliance are putting together a weekly streaming audio brodcast called Pro Baseball Central. There will be a minute and a half Brewers segment by me on March 3 between 9pm and 10pm CST. Hopefully this will be a decent weekly radio show that Brewerfan.net will be a part of, going forward.
  12. Unfortunately, links at EZBoard.com don't have styles associated with them, so it's all or nothing regarding their links. To be honest, I like the underlining because it's not always obvious to users what's a link and what's not a link.
  13. The link for this feature is on the "Brewerfan Features" page.
  14. He's thrown it at least 3 times http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  15. I've got some CSS work i've been meaning to do in the forums (regarding the search page) anyway... i'll see if I can't knock it out this weekend.
  16. As far as hitters go, the only position i'd really shy away from, if at all, would be 1B. Take someone like Weeks for example.... while the system is richer at 2B than most other positions, it's much easier for a 2B to be shifted to 3B or the OF (normally) than a 1B. Or, it's usually easy for a corner OF to be shifted to 1B. With that said, if you have a talent like Prince Fielder on the board, you don't want to pass him by solely because he was a 1B (although, i'll be the first to admit I wasn't happy about the Fielder signing at the time).
  17. Just drop me an email with the article, and i'll check it out.
  18. Page available at: www.brewerfan.net/ViewOrg...hes.action and on individual player profiles as well. Now, can someone help me fill in the blanks?
  19. Hey, that's pretty cool.... I was actually planning on having photos of the grips on the site as well to go with the new functionality. So the sinker and the 2-seamer are actually the same thing.... I think the forkball was actually a sinker.
  20. [ Edit: I have a bunch of games on tape (all the televised wins from the past 2 seasons), so I could always look back at them if you need a lot more info on certain guys. ] I think i'm going to take the coward's way out and when someone buys MVP 2005, they can dictate the pitch types to me http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  21. Aren't the splitter and the sinker the same thing?
  22. I'm going to be adding what types of pitches each pitcher throws to the site... I'll probably start with the 25-man roster, and eventually try to do this for Power 50 players as well. I'm trying to come up with clear categories of pitches. So far, I have: - 4-seam fastball - 2-seam fastball - sinker - curveball - slider - change-up Now, i'm trying to ignore all of the funky modifications of pitches there are out there, because the point of this exercise is to use clear categorizations so players can be compared. With that said, if maybe 2-3 pitchers on the team throw a pitch like a "slurve", I may add that as well.
  23. I don't know if i'm down with the "best available player" technique. I certainly don't like drafting by position when there's no clear choice at a slot. I'd like to see them take the best college player available, unless there's a REAL special HS player at their slot.
  24. [ One problem I found though is that it says Sam Narron was claimed off of waivers from the Milwaukee Brewers. I know that you meant claimed by the Brewers from the Rangers. ] Corrected....
