  1. Rosebowl, it means that Macha and Kendall are on the same page about how they want the pitchers to attack hitters. It's not like they have a game plan that can't be changed from series to series. You're making a big deal out of nothing.. .. where have I seen that before? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  2. This is the least excited I've ever been for Spring Training. Not that I'm not happy that baseball season is starting, just in years past I would be counting the days down until ST started. This year it was sort of a "oh, it started already?" It's a lot different ballgame (no pun intended) when you catch watch the majority of games on TV and you rely on game recaps for your information.
  3. Pretty sure that (for most males) the top priority is female and a good looking female. Their story will most likely come second to their looks. And seriously, does anyone REALLY care about sideline reporting when it comes to anything other than an injury update? Usually I watch the game to watch the game, not to find out some quirky thing that Ryan Braun does. Maybe that's just me.
  4. BW3's on State Street in Madison, mainly for the 24 oz PBR's. Of course, wings don't hurt either.
  5. I haven't had Culver's in a while, nor Sonic. But when I did get the chance to eat at Sonic I thought it tasted quite a bit like Culver's. I do like the drink selection at Sonic, that's crucial IMO. Can't wait to get back to Madison and get some crazy concoction.
  6. I used to have trouble sleeping as well. But now that I am getting up at 6 am every morning, and working out, it's gotten a lot better. I generally try to get 6-7 hours a night, any more and I will feel more tired during the day. Kind of funky how that works. I still don't sleep all the way through the night, I don't know if I have ever done that.
  7. This doesn't really make a whole lot of sense to me. I'm a Brewer fan, but I also understand that Milwaukee ain't exactly the nicest city in the States to live for most of the year. And I know that an overly large contract could hurt this team in the long run, I have no problem with the Brewers "low balling" Fielder if that is indeed what they did. Now Braun on the other hand.. I think he should be given the best contract that the organization can. He's just a better overall player.
  8. I have a Popular Science magazine that did a special on sports, in particular winning the Gold Glove. The article talks about the 2007 GG award, also going to David Wright. A few things stuck out to me before I got to the "meat" of the article. In 2007, DW made 21 errors, and had a .954 fielding percentage. He was in the bottom 5 of the NL 3rd basemen. This is directly from the article in my magazine: "...Fielding Percentage is great for identifying how often a player handles and throws batted balls without error, but it fails to assess that player's ability to reach balls in the first place. With this in mind, Chris Dial, a pharmaceutical research chemist in North Carolina, came up with the "defensive runs saved" system, which accounts for not just balls a player handles but the balls a player SHOULD handle, expressing a fielder's defensive skill in terms of the number of runs he saves or costs his team. Using the defensive-runs-saved-formula, Dials found that Gold Glove voters should not, in fact, have given the award to Wright... ...the best defensive third basemen in the National League, as it turns out, was the SF Giant's Pedro Feliz." Sorry for the long quote, but I thought of this article when I opened the thread and thought I would share. DW's 2008 defensive numbers aren't really lighting up the charts either, and I agree with some above posters that this award means little to me anymore as well. Not sure how much credibility I would put into Chris Dial's formula, but he seemed to find a formula that agrees with a lot of people's notions of David Wright's defense in the first place: not exactly Gold Glove. *Edit - I originally put Popular Mechanics, not Mechanics but Science. My bad.
  9. I just don't seem to understand how being a good participant with the media will win ballgames. "Well, _____ can't get his team to win 50 games, but he sure is good with the media. What a great manager." I guess I fail to understand the importance of a good media relationship.
  10. Postseason, what about the Sexson deal? Was that not Melvin or was that someone else, all of a sudden I can't remember. I would think that was a pretty good trade for us, maybe not to the level of the Pods/Lee deal.
  11. Time to plunk someone, might as well make it interesting.
  12. I was really hoping they would do that.
  13. Fielder got a pitch right down the middle, and he whiffs. *Edit - and the next one he connects. Woo hoo, I guess.
  14. Prince didn't even know how many outs there were. Nothing like not paying attention during the playoffs.
  15. Someone should tell the Brewers that there is no such thing as a 5 run HR.
  16. Why is TGJ batting? Why not Nelson? *Edit - Well I'm stupid.
  17. This at bat should have already been over, that non-strike call on 0-2 was a joke.
  18. So does Gallardo bat, I'd hate to take him out because he's throwing so well.
  19. What is this? Taken 3 pitches, amazing.
  20. I can't wait for Corey's at bat this inning! Double play, I'm guessing.
  21. Well this obviously isn't the Brewers day. Or playoffs really, offense just hasn't shown any kind of power. Few singles scattered yesterday with some walks was nice enough for the W, but for the most part these approaches at the plate have been not so good.
  22. Fans cheering, Soup must be out.
  23. I saw that coming, when they rattled off Burrell's career numbers against Soup. Crap, this ain't good.
