  1. Thanks for posting that, it was an interesting read for sure. How painful it would be to be a Royals fan in the last decade, just as it was to be a Brewers fan in the 90s.
  2. I don't usually wear my hat indoors, if I do it's just resting on top of my head. I think it's more of a military thing, getting used to taking my hat off as soon as I enter a building and putting it on as soon as I get out.
  3. They'll probably get right back to work watching film - you have to get ready for spring training some time.
  4. My parents are still friends after their divorce. It's nice for family outings because we can all get together and it's not weird at all. I really got it "lucky" as far as growing up with divorced parents. Going to my mom's or dad's wasn't a big deal since they were only a block and a half apart.
  5. That was ridiculous. The cameras were following him around with Sutton going beserk as if Joe D was coming to play for the Brewers. The only thing big about Mench was the circumference of his head.
  6. Did Bill Hall announce that he was the best 3B in the NL on "opposite" day?
  7. Yeah! Way to go JJ, for as lost as he's looked that was a nice approach.
  8. Nice blown call by the ump. DeFelice pitching to Fukudome, really? Hmm.
  9. I'm watching on TV. I'm using mlbtv.com, maybe using the wgn feed.
  10. Doh! 0-2, and another double by Molina. Is this series over yet? Molina is destroying Brewer pitching.
  11. Randy Wynn might be a real good OFer, but I've seen him make some straight up ugly catches in RF. A lot of those basket type catches where you're really not sure if he's going to make the catch or not. Could be a touch wind at that park, or a tough place to see, or whatever. Just my opinion.
  12. Cripes. Corey Hart leads off with a double, and Jason Kendall grounds out to SS on the first pitch. Looks like Cain has hung a few of his offspeed pitches. The change to Prince was up, that curveball to Corey hung a little bit.
  13. Craig Coshun going for the reverse mullet look? Looks like his bangs have gotten curly. Prince has warning track power!
  14. I just have a funny - well not for me - story re: MLBtv blackout restrictions. I called MLBtv to get to the bottom of the blackout restrictions, the rules were a bit cloudy to me. Being that I'm not in FSN Wisconsin's viewing area, I have to rely on either a slingbox (currently out of commission) or MLBtv. The woman informed me that coverage of certain teams gets blacked out due to IP addresses. So a poster was correct in that thread that was on the main page. "Ok" no big deal I figured, I'm in Europe, why would my IP address cause a problem? She asked for my zip code, which is an APO zip code, so it's not going to register like a normal zip code would. She then asked for the local postal code, which is 54529. What team came back as blacked out? Of course the Milwaukee Brewers. *edit - got it figured out now. The dude answered my questions easily, while the woman struggled to understand that I was NOT in the US. All is well now.
  15. I wouldn't call anyone who questions TGJr's ability a "hater". Jr just hasn't been that great, yet people want to think he is because of his name. He's an average AAA player who might make a 5th OF spot someday, or maybe even a starting spot for a rebuilding club. He isn't Weeks/Hart fast, he's an average fielder with an average arm, he doesn't even have gap power. Gwynn doesn't do one thing that stands out among the rest, expecting him as anything more than a mediocre player is expecting way too much. I'm not saying I hope the guy fails, I just don't see what you see when it comes to Gwynn. You can't call him a "gamer" or that he has "intangibles" because you can't prove those in any way. By the time players reach the minor leagues and progress up towards MLB I'd like to think they're all "gamers" and all have "intangibles".
  16. I don't understand why the interest in a platoon. It seems like there would be a platoon, just to platoon two players. No one in their right mind would suggest platooning Gwynn Jr with Cameron, and Duffy is only a minor upgrade why consider it this time?
  17. Might be NSFW - Language. One cuss word, but it's not loud.
  18. I use regular swings and I get a lot of hits, including HR's. I also guess location, not the type of pitch anymore, so I get an idea where the ball is going to be. When I started using this method I started to beat up teams pretty good. Corey Hart hit two grand slams in one game, Mike Cameron in the next. Craig Counsell, TGJr, and Jason Kendall are ground ball machines, and therefore were released.
  19. Bluray is sweet but you need a full HD tv with a high dynamic contrast ratio. My friend has a 46" Samsung, and the Bluray is unbelievable. We watched Band of Brothers on there and it was so awesome.
  20. His neck snapped back, I don't know if his head ever hit but he probably damaged where his spine connects to his brain with the whiplash that occured during the play. Someone with a better knowledge of that area of the body could probably give more detail but I'd guess that's what happened.
  21. I've been using guess pitch, just so I know to be ready for the fastball if I can get it. That's the only pitch I guess, and I try to lay off everything else unless I get two strikes. *Edit - I also can't run the bases. I could have scored a bunch more runs if I knew how to advance certain runners and keep others at a certain base.
  22. I adjusted the sliders, and tweaked some of my player's attributes because some of them were a little... low. I still can't hit, and I'm getting beat by shoddy players. I score MAYBE 4 runs a game, and that's usually from homeruns. Carlos Villanueva also can not pitch in this game, he gets rocked every time he touches the ball. TGJr can't hit the ball out of the infield - at least they stayed true to his game. Frustrating game it is.
  23. This game is almost comical for how bad things are going for me. Mike Fontenot takes an outside slider and hit it over 400 feet to RF. It wasn't even a strike. I can't buy a run, or string hits together yet the other teams I play beat the living crap out of me. If I get a lead, I'll serve up a HR within the next two batters the following inning. It's a fun game, but losing every stinking time is getting a little ridiculous.
  24. Give me three weeks and I'll be able to decipher your post. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif I get what your point is, but I think that even if a hitter thinks he knows what is coming he's still up there guessing for the most part unless the count is in his favor. I think the game plan is more scouting report based, well obviously, but the pitcher is trying to attack the hitter's weak spots. Some hitters won't lay off low and away sliders (I can think of about 3 Brewer players) and others can't hit or lay off high fastballs. Of course when a pitcher makes a mistake with that fastball then it's gone. I don't think it's as simple as breaking ball when the hitter is thinking straight ball. Sometimes it is but it's more based on location. Hitters know what their weaknesses are but those are dang tough to overcome, and they usually chase those bad pitches.
  25. If a good change up/fastball pitcher can throw a mediocre fastball with a plus change they can be very effective. When arm angle and speed is almost the same the hitter is basically up there guessing. That's why I've always thought the change up is the second best pitch, next to a well located fastball. That's why Cappy's arm troubles (second time around) are surprising. I thought he was mainly a two pitch pitcher that mixed in an occasion curve or slider that causes the strain on the elbow. I know pitching in general isn't "good" for the elbow, but it's the junk - slider/curve - that causes the majority of problems.
