  1. I don't think anyone's mentioned this yet, apologies if I missed it here on in the last IGT. Marcum looked like his (left) hip flexor may have been bothering him in last night's game. Smoltz made a comment when Marcum was back on the mound after fouling a pitch off his foot in an at-bat the previous half-inning that Marcum was really kicking that foot around. However, iirc he started kicking his left leg around (sometimes really subtly, sometimes more obviously) before that plate appearance & foul off his foot. His body language, specifically in his left leg, was almost identical to how he was acting when the hip flexor injury first came about. I also noticed he was doing the full-bend-over stretch on the mound even before the first pitch. That could be something he just does no matter what, but iirc that's something he also started doing once he had the hip problem. EDIT: I specifically remember mentioning something to Principessa while we were watching the game... during the top half of the 2nd inning... that Marcum looked like his hip was bugging him again.
  2. BUMP! Time to get confident, Brewers fans.
  3. I guess my thinking is that while they have built effectively from within they still need a lot of help. What I don't see is why they would go after someone who'd only be of help for one season -- and I get that part of what you like here is that KC would (theoretically) only have to part with one player, & could realistically net two comp picks for Marcum when he leaves. I agree they need a lot more talent at the MLB level, but with how highly-regarded their farm system is, making a trade like the Ubaldo Jimenez deal makes a lot more sense to me. And if they only have to give up one player, a prospect no less, wouldn't it make sense? I think if we're looking two or so more seasons down the road, then I (personally) would agree. Just doesn't seem like the time is right for them imho. I would see someone like the White Sox or Rays (or, heck, even Philly) making this kind of move for Marcum. EDIT: More teams keep occurring to me on Marcum -- LAA, WAS, FLA, SFG... I think there's going to be no shortage of potential trade partners if Melvin decides he wants to sell on Marcum.
  4. Working pretty well for me, probably 90% success or so
  5. Given how patiently & effectively the Royals have rebuilt from within, I don't see them being a buyer on a 1-yr. guy like Marcum.
  6. If you didn't see that Marcum's command was flat-out awful last night, I don't know what to say. For the guy that lectures people on getting caught up in results, that's exactly what you're doing here. Just because most of the Cardinals hitters didn't mash Marcum's poorly located pitches doesn't mean he was just unlucky.
  7. John Jay has had a good series, beyond just weak hits. Neither Berkman nor Holliday has done much, but you could make the case that it's more likely they heat up than remain ice-cold. And Furcal is a good hitter who has mashed Brewers pitching this season. I hear you on thinking losing 3 in a row in St. Louis is incredibly unlikely, though. I think the fact that no starter aside from Gallardo has stepped up is what has people worried.
  8. http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcT99Hv6tzegrkbtigwcbduxEN5Ucvowe7M1I9Xu28mILFnw1Z_o Fonzie be praised
  9. This is a completely random observation, but in watching the Yankees in the ALDS, I noticed that Taylor Green's batting stance is almost identical to Curtis Granderson's. I thought that was interesting.
  10. Hah, I asked the same thing in yesterday's IGT. It's reserved for the media, & the seats that are vacant are so they don't block a camera down in the RF corner of the stadium.
  11. Mitch Williams comes across as an absolute moron. It's just stunning to watch the MLB Network & listen to him.
  12. "joie de vive" Maybe I'm the only one that cares about details like this, but man... the devil is in the details, Reid Forgrave. Cool to see that the Brewers have some national appeal, but that's not too surprising to Brewers fans. These guys rock!
  13. You know, a lot of posters said it wasn't a good idea to start Wolf in the NLDS. Then when Wolf went out & got shelled, no one started any of these "I told you so" types of comments (that I saw). Can people just agree to disagree on this already? Cripes, this team has a 1-0 lead in the NLCS, & Brewerfan lately has been kinda tough to enjoy. Honestly, if people can't understand that a manager can do both good & bad things, and that a baseball team's record is a very poor way to judge a manager, there's just nothing left to talk about.
  14. Carl Crawford is elite defensively, not below average. His bat isn't anything special, but his speed is actually probably more valuable IRL than in fantasy baseball since his speed contributes so much to his defense. Reyes just isn't as good as advertised. What is your argument here? The guy is a legit hitter for his position, has great speed, & plays passable defense at SS (at the very worst). He might not be a good idea for a team like the Brewers to sign long-term, but he's definitely worth a ton.
  15. No way -- if Prince Albert grounds into a double play, he meant to.
  16. Fwiw, from what Principessa reads about the Yankees, C.J. Wilson is expected to be their main target as a free agent. Well, after Sabathia I guess.
  17. CC will "leave" the Yankees just like A-Rod... and still get paid again http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  18. Yeah -- loads of problems today, all day long
  19. Virus? I don't know where in that process the possibility of getting hit with a virus would be. I don't mean that sarcastically, I really don't know. 'My' (http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif) method doesn't include using the "add from URL" button that Yuku offers. It's just html tags -- you literally just type the tags, put the image url address between the two tags, & post. I guess I didn't explain that very clearly, re-reading my post. Pretend that the next three lines in this post are a new post field -- [img.]image url address[/img.] That's all you type... nothing to do with the "add from URL" button. Then you just submit the post (or preview, I usually preview first to make sure I did everything right). Sorry to hear a virus messed with your computer. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  20. How do you know the comments were taken out of context? They may have been but you can't be sure of that. When the author states "And Milwaukee's interest [in Reyes] apparently is sincere", and his proof is a quote that sounds more like an answer to a question about the Brewers re-signing Fielder, I can't think of anything but 'out of context'. I mean, the chances that Prince is a Brewer beyond 2011 are roughly 0%, so a 1% chance of signing Reyes is a better percentage. If 'Ryan Braun trying to convince a FA to come to Milwaukee during the All-Star break' is "sincere interest" from the Brewers, then I guess Braun's deputy GM badge is for real http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  21. Gomez looked safe on his bunt attempt. He was 100% out, but definitely by a fraction of a step. I cannot believe that Freese ball went out of the park, it looked like a can-o-corn off the bat. I actually started clapping here at mi casa when that ball left the bat. Looked like an out for sure, but impressive power from Freese.
  22. I think this thread title is very, very misleading. This isn't a blog trying to draw hits/traffic here, why not change it to reflect that these are comments taken completely out of context?
  23. Hello, I'd like to join your club. Do we disband the club after a team announcement that Axford's 'fine'? Or do we get to stay together until he's gone out & thrown another dominant relief appearance? Thanks.
  24. Mine was a NG Moon Man. The gf came through big-time by bringing that home from the store today!
