  1. Please stop the misinformation train. Craig Counsell is not a .350+ OBP talent.
  2. I sure hope Hall isn't in there based on 40-some ABs. Harang is a really tough RHP & Hall just can't hit RHP. I would like to see Cat/Gerut out in RF, though.
  3. Just about, yes. It's funny to me that even with him not on the team, people still find ways to rip Sheets.
  4. Berghoff is a great brewery. Imho very few mid-sized breweries have as impressive an across-the-board roster as they do.
  5. I had they guy at the liquor store in the back room for 15 minutes looking for D-man. He went back there twice and then called his distributor before going back a third time and finding some. Anti-DFA liquor store guy! I can't believe how hard that beer is to find. You'd think New Glarus would fall over themselves to find a way to produce & distribute more.
  6. 4 @ FLA (2-2) 3 @ ATL (2-1) 3 vs COL (2-1) 3 vs CWS (2-1) 3 @ CLE (1-2) 3 @ DET (1-2) 3 vs MIN (2-1) 3 vs SF (2-1) 3 vs NYM (2-1) 16-12 20 HR (some of the lower HR total posts are really pessimistic... just my two cents) **Do we need to provide individual HR totals, or is the total for all three fine?**
  7. Man did I get a queasy feeling tonight when Looper looked like he might be hurt. I'm hoping it really is nothing, because he was just great tonight.
  8. First, it seems that most responses in this thread have reflected positively on Lawrie's move to second, but doesn't that severely limit his upside as a prospect? One factor that Lawrie himself mentioned regarding the move from C to 2B was that it will allow him to reach the majors quicker. And from every account I've read so far, Lawrie absolutely has the bat to stand out at second.
  9. On #2, is there any qualifying amount of games? Or is it possibly a trick question where a guy managed like 10 games on an interim basis & won, say, 8 of them?
  10. Seeing that he's such a feared & powerful hitter, I'm shocked that you might suggest Ben wouldn't want to hit!
  11. Yeah, assuming health, that's the kind of contract the Brewers should be looking at. A healthy Webb would be a great addition, and likely a Type A free agent.
  12. Also, I think people are making a little too much about Peavy's road splits. Yep, I have to 'fess up as one of these folks. I'm glad trwi pointed out that Peavy's road splits are heavily skewed by his first couple of seasons, and apologize for not doing my own due diligence. I still do have concerns about taking on a contract the size of Peavy's, though. As has been pointed out, aside from the young guys that are going to get big pay raises, if Peavy goes down with any significant injury the contract would really stand in the way of the Brewers being able to bring in more pitching.
  13. I think it's relatively clear that MLB in general knew (in general) PED abuse was taking place, so I agree with the concepts of punishing organizations as well as individual players.
  14. Ah, there it is. Thanks. And that song is awesome http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  15. Hahaha http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Brewtacular, I think you should apply for the next ESPN baseball analyst opening. That Iwamura injury sure does sound brutally painful.
  16. In other words, he'll be patient enough to get on base one way or another. Hart doesn't seem to have that IMO This is a great example of the problem in analysis, though. As recently as just earlier this season, Corey was taking walks. It's just too soon to start calling him 'the next Bill Hall'... and as logan astutely pointed out, that comparison is most likely flawed anyway.
  17. I'm not enough of a pro wrestling fan... why is the Ultimate Warrior theme such a good fit for Todd? EDIT: Oh... I get it. It must be the physique http://www.wiskate.com/news/data/upimages/UltimateWarrior.jpg http://blog.silive.com/sportsstories/2009/04/medium_todd-coffey.jpg
  18. What's maddening to me is that there really aren't any checks & balances on sportswriters & broadcasters -- they can just spout whatever nonsense comes to mind, and it's up to fans to elighten themselves. Kinda defeats the point of the jobs imo. In other jobs, when you come up with stupid ideas, typically there's a supervisor and/or co-workers to point out the flaws in said ideas. In sports journalism, your editor apparently just spellchecks.
  19. As is what he has done in his other 11 major league at bats, which is why I said I'll continue to wait and see how he actually performs Would you have said/Did you say, 'We need to wait & see with this Braun/Fielder guy'? Gamel is legit... there's a reason people are giving such high praise. I don't mean to just gloss over your wise tempering of expectations, but Mat is a rare hitting talent. As for the Boggs comparisons, I don't think people necessarily mean, 'Gamel is also going to win multiple batting titles & get himself into the HoF'. I just think it's a decent physical comparison, & gives fans an idea of the type of production (though perhaps not down to the last digit) to expect. It's an interesting comparison when it comes to defense too... iirc Boggs was a shaky fielder when he came up, but developed his tools & became a good one (which is what I think Mat will do, a la Weeks).
  20. Do drugs Danny? Every day. Good boy. At this point I really hope Dunn turns out to be just a 'have bat, will travel' mercenary the rest of his career. Two or three years with a team & then on to the next multi-million dollar deal.
  21. Can Bill Hall Pitch? Honestly... I'm hoping that was it. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  22. What I think was lazy was Crew saying that Ennder doesn't believe anything unless there's a stat to back it up. This is getting twisted around.
  23. I could just as easily point out that he has a career ERA at Miller Park of 3.43 I prefer utilizing the 600+ career IP for his road ERA (3.82) than looking at a sample of 21 IP at Miller Park. I don't see anything wrong with calling a guy with a career 3.82 road ERA, & higher road ERAs in both 2008 & so far in 2009, a 4-ish ERA pitcher. It's what Peavy is away from the most extreme pitchers' park in the majors.
