  1. He explained that (post #79)... Yaz was a batting title winner (in 1968) at .301, not a Triple Crown winner
  2. Yeah, and the scary thing is that TH actually contributes to (iirc) Baseball America on Brewers minor leaguers. *smacks forehead* GREAT news on Jones... hard not to get excited, but I will keep on thinking happy thoughts...
  3. I'm happy he's rejected extension offers...so I guess that means I'm worried. Yeah, this has been the thought in the back of my mind this season as well, JJHardy7. I know at the time, I was kinda bummed that Corey turned down an extension offer... now, it's looking like that could work out just fine by the Brewers. I think at this point it's relatively safe to say that Hart is a low-ish OBP, high-ish SLG type of hitter. His AVG will go a very, very long way to determining his overall value, and he seems to have at least one glaring weakness at the plate. I'm still open to the idea of an extension offer to Corey, since the dollars would probably be lower at this point. However, any extension that covered more than like 4 or 5 seasons just seems like a huge risk right now.
  4. Honestly on that Braun catch I remember wondering to myself if he rolled over in that manner bc his shoulder was kind of pinned akwardly underneath. But clearly Ryan was just looking for another way to piss in TLR's coffee. Yeah, coffee... that's it.
  5. Embrace your inner thug, hawing. Said inner thug probably just needs a big hug anyway.
  6. Normally I'm not one to get into things like this, but I'm actually really curious to see what kind of home record the Twins will amass once their new park opens. There's just a litany of things you hear about why it's tough to play in the HHH, and how the Twins do have a relatively big home-field advantage.
  7. I like how they keep clinging to their World Series win from 3 years ago. I think they forgot that those championships don't carry over from year-to-year indefinitely. If only all they clung to was 3 years ago, Invader... check out this comment That's the first comment on the article. Wow... just wow. We're great! We just need to get back to not sucking, and we'll be fine & great again! Their incredulousness comes from their insecurity because maybe, just maybe, the lowly Brewers have a better team than them. http://www1.istockphoto.com/file_thumbview_approve/2634771/2/istockphoto_2634771_hitting_a_nail_on_the_head.jpg
  8. Well we do have DiFelice & Catalanotto... maybe the Cubs are the Gauls?
  9. Open emulation? Public awe? What is going on here... and when did these things supposedly take place? Good lord does that fanbase have some coming down to do.
  10. The umpire controlled the destiny of that game. Umpire & grand slamming slugger Justin Morneau?
  11. And that untucking has increasingly become a symbol of the teams' distaste for one another. The Brewers whipping out of their shirttails after a victory started by Mike Cameron as an ode to his father who would do the same after coming home from work. Hey at least they have the facts straight this time. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif "We just decided to celebrate inside," Cameron told Haudricourt. "We've been working on it for awhile now." Mike Cameron, Captain Awesome of Planet Rocknroll.
  12. Yeah, I'll take the over on that
  13. Honestly, pro ballplayers (even 'just' at the minor league level) are so gifted in terms of hitting I just can't bring myself to get too worked up about batting stances. It really is still funny to me to see how hitters wind up looking almost identical once they've loaded up their swings.
  14. Doesn't every defender '[botch] the easy ones sometimes'? I guess I'd ask why you're comparing the two players, Tbadder. Have you seen Lawrie play? Is it just based on his height & weight? (I, too, am a minors novice at best... and probably can't help you much. Just curious)
  15. As you'll see in Monday's Link Report, Angel Salome left today's Nashville game in the 4th. Nick Green tossed a painful (and long) first inning, and here's hoping Angel's back isn't playing games with him again. UGgggghhhhhhhh. Hang in there, Angel!
  16. sorry, to Weirdos -- I don't want to make it seem like I don't appreciate you trying to go through some possibilities... that last trade idea for Halladay just about made me choke, though http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  17. I really don't think that call was as clear-cut as you're saying... imo it was just a tough call. The ump made the correct call, the other manager went nuts )acting far more animated than our guy To be fair, I understood Gardenhire losing his mind a bit since he could point to a tangible injury/bruise on his guy's hand right then & there. All Macha had to go on was that the call was changed -- and it could well have been changed to the correct ruling.
  18. Blue Jays: Blue Jays get Escobar, Lawrie, and Parra Brewers get Halladay What?!
  19. I don't get it -- what's the big deal? Who's Teddy Roosevelt? Unreal
  20. Anyone catch his web gem against the Yankees last week? I don't think any other catcher in the league can make that play. I saw that live... I've never seen a more athletic play by a C, or come to think of it, a more athletic C. Joe Mauer is arguably the most valuable player in MLB. And I say that without the context of his batting like .765 so far this season. The guy is just amazing.
  21. Hall with the huge walk-off... and to RC no less. If only this thread had addressed the topic of Hall going the opposite way... Congrats Billy!
  22. Diamond Knot sounds like my kinda brew http://i3.iofferphoto.com/img/item/407/497/36/JONAS_BROTHERS_WANTED.jpg
  23. just wanted to say that what's preventing the Cubs from getting Peavy is lack of prospects. The ownership situation could get resolved tomorrow & they still wouldn't have the firepower to land him.
  24. I don't see any connection between the HP ump handling a strange call the way he did & some supposed disconnect between Macha & his players. I have really been happy with Macha so far. I like Macha's cool demeanor but there's got to be a switch too for a manager where he goes all out for the players with a passion. His conversation with the ump after Mauer was awarded 1B was pretty animated. Macha imo does a really nice job of toe-ing the line & getting his point across to umps without going all 'you have no choice but to toss me', a la Piniella.
  25. I might expose myself for the noob I am, but the comments on Braddock & Scarpetta are really exciting.
