  1. It's funny to me hear the singing of "Roll Out the Barrel", a song of gleeful jubilation from a crowd of people that have yet to realize that the Brewers have likely netted Sabathia. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Also, Rock just said "Small Sample"! What isn't going right today?!
  2. Big update in the Sabathia thread, for those curious
  3. Yeah, all the same, I want the official word Fair enough. To be fair, I asked about the blog's reliability on the IndiansInk forums. Learned that's who Castrovince was. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  4. It's the Indians.com beat writer !!!!!!!!!!!!!! http://castrovince.mlblogs.com/about.html "Anthony Castrovince is the Indians' beat reporter for MLB.com. He is a native of Euclid, Ohio, a graduate of Ohio University, and an accomplished master of the Sousaphone."
  5. "To me, this was the greatest match I've ever seen." -- John MacEnroe To hear someone with his perspective categorize it like that is really powerful imo.
  6. "You gotta expect the worst. It was the worst opponent on the best court." -- Federer That one got a nice laugh from the crowd Nadal is on the verge of breaking down... and I can understand why. "It is important for me that I am in the time as the greatest player in the world" "He's still the #1, he's still the best" -- Nadal, on Federer This is a final that I will be proud to tell people that I was able to watch. Granted, not all of it... gotta have priorities when it comes to the Brewers! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  7. 4 hrs. 48 min.: Longest match ever, in terms of duration Second time ever a match has gotten to 9-7 in the 5th set. 10-0 streak in non-French Open majors finals record for Federer snapped.
  8. I LOVE how classy & appreciative the Wimbledon crowds are "Gotta be the greatest match we've ever seen. Ever." -- John MacEnroe
  9. Crank up the difficulty. This video game is unrealistic. Wait, it's reality? Cool. Very well said! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif C'mon Corey...
  10. Article from the Cleveland Plain Dealer "If the Milwaukee Brewers sweeten the deal for C.C. Sabathia today or tomorrow, the reigning American League Cy Young winner should be making his next start for them on Tuesday. The Brewers have already agreed to give up outfielder Matt LaPorta, who could be playing left field for the Indians by midseason next year. The Indians, however, want an upgrade from the two other prospects they've been offered for Sabathia. It's not known who those two prospects are, but if the Indians can get either Class A third baseman Taylor Green or Class AA outfielder Michael Brantley, LaPorta's teammate at Class AA Huntsville, as the second player in the trade, it seems a deal could be struck. The Indians would also get a third player. Right now it's a four-team race for Sabathia with the Brewers leading the way followed by the Dodgers, Philadelphia and Tampa Bay. If the Dodgers can improve on their center piece to the trade, they might land the 6-7 left-hander. Right now, the Indians like the second and third players the Dodgers have offered more than auxiliary pieces they've been offered from the Brewers. The Phillies, who think Sabathia can pitch them deep into the postseason this year, are offering several prospects, but they're all in the lower minors. Among the players the Phillies are offering are second baseman Adrian Cardenas and left-hander Antonio Bastardo. The Devil Rays have several prospects that interest the Indians, but they have not jumped into the bidding with gusto. They do have a scout watching the Indians play the Twins."
  11. Glad too to see Ned PH for Soup. Also, being a long-suffering 'BF of a girl that loves trashy reality TV shows', the "I Hart New York" slogan is brilliant. Brilliant. Oh good. Stetter.
  12. It really didn't matter because a couple pitches later Kendall hit a one hopper back to the mound that would have been an inning ending dp. That doesn't matter relative to being upset that Yost would call for the double steal. What a day for the bats!
  13. Time to get to work on Corey's ASG bid then! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  14. Peavey -- The double-steal. Sorry. Still mad. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Well, one good thing, Braun received the MOST votes of ANY NL OFer, and had the 2nd most votes of any NL player other then Utley..... That's pretty incredible. Well done Brewers fans!
  15. Ned Yost pisses me off. If he thinks Soup getting tagged for a 4-spot is an aberration, I really have no idea what to say.
  16. The double-steal there is just not smart, and Cam getting gunned down even with a great jump is good evidence why. Run expectancies below. 1st + 2nd, 1 out: .971 1st + 3rd, 1 out: 1.243 2nd, 2 outs: .725 Oh, and bunting the red-hot Hardy last night... grrr.
  17. When BA said there was "an announcement coming shortly over the PA" (I missed that he said it was about the ASG), I literally got goosebumps thinking it was about a trade for Sabathia. Guess I'm pretty anxious, huh? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  18. The idea of giving that away, especially Sabathia right after he gets dealt, is silly There's really no need to call someone's question silly. He started off by saying he doesn't post much, and basically asked for more informed opinions. The response was exactly what he was looking for, until that line. This trade situation is quickly turning into an epic saga. Mskuts makes an interesting point about other teams possibly inquiring on LaPorta (guess that's another thing that leaking the offer did for Melvin... I love how savvy he is). If we can get someone like Greinke, as has been discussed, I'd be much more in favor of that than Sabathia.
  19. I have no problem dealing Laporta, as I think he projects as another Pat Burrell. Why is projecting as Burrell be a bad or unimportant thing? Just bc of the corner OF spot?
  20. But Cleveland can easily tell other teams what we are offering. We don't have to negotiate through the media. Just seems weird that none of the other teams are going public, just us. Might be an indication that the offers don't hold up to ours. It's certainly calling other interested GMs out when you announce the players involved... well, that or just knowing no one can beat your offer.
  21. But it seems to be more if the Indians want pitching or hitting. 'Quality' arms could be had from LA, while the only true quality bats they're being offered come from us. What about Greinke? That's the part that's a bit confusing about the Indians trying to leverage the Brewers... our offer is the best they'll get, and to be honest, I'd prefer Greinke to Sabathia since we'd have Zach around for 2009 & on. I understand CLE wants to draw out the best offer, but the team that has the leverage in this situation is the Brewers (imo).
  22. Yeah, that was practically laughable. He's not even acknowledging the rumors that the Brewers are offering 3 players as well. As if they're going to turn down a deal with a superior player like LaPorta if the Phillies offer them 6 low-level prospects. But the deal has been restructured! It's so exciting! Now it's anyone's game!
  23. ESPN: When there's nothing to talk about, just keep talking anyway. I hope the 'after tonight's game' talk is true, otherwise I'll wait until tomorrow. I can't imagine much has changed since our initial offer.
  24. I'd bet it's exciting and nerve-racking at the same time. Quite a compliment to be considered as good as (or nearly so) the best hitting prospect in MLB, and the main cog in a trade for one of the best SP in the league.
  25. I just hope that the report's accurate on Sheets not starting http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
