  1. With those comparisons, I was more just trying to go with guys that have gotten long-term, arbitration-buyout contracts that could be in line for Fielder, Braun, and Hart. I see, sorry.
  2. Any way you slice it up he is, though - don't wait for an expert or 'expert' to tell you! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif .933 OPS w/ RISP 2005 & 1.044 Close & Late @ Nashville in 2005 .848 OPS w/RISP & .877 Close & Late for his MLB career (check here for a more detailed breakdown of his "Clutch" stats) 2007: RISP - .968, C&L - 1.062
  3. I think Howard is a better comp for Fielder, but Cabrera's good, too. I don't think Tulo works with Ryan since Troy plays the most important position, where Braun's is least-important. Hart to Rios is such a good comp it's kind of spooky. Thank goodness Prince is motivated by anger, disrespect and spite. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif
  4. To the topic of red-shirting... If you slap the RS on a frosh, then see a bunch of injuries to the point where he's 'needed', can you just play him and forfeit his redshirt? If that's the case I don't see why Nankivil & Jarmusz weren't, but it's ultimately the player's choice, right?
  5. He seems to have the patience that I don't see in Prince or Ryan. Prince's patience at the plate is better than both Braun & Hart to this point. I've seen Prince swing at some pretty bad pitches when he's ahead in the count in clutch situations. It's kind of funny that you used that woman as an example, and then basically did the same thing yourself.
  6. There you have it - this T-shirt would even sell to Cubs fans. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  7. Well, Scot Rolen broke his finger over the weekend. Wow. Just... wow.
  8. Civic stadium is pretty cool. So you're a long-time resident, then? Not many call PGE Park "Civic Stadium". http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif halfnard is probably a better bet than me, as it sounds like he's been here longer... but that isn't to say I won't help.
  9. downright horrible analysis. Just completely wrong. That should be their slogan. That, or, "Shouting louder than you since 1979" http://insidetheu.com/images/newspics/353093675330959364espn_corp_logo.jpg Downright horrible analysis -- Just completely wrong!
  10. What I hate is they've pretty much made it impossible to drag bunt this year as to where last year it was easy. I don't agree with the statement to that extreme, but to be fair, I really only bunt with pitchers. I did, though, lay down a beaut' with TGJ as a pinch-hitter - I didn't notice Aramis was playing in on the bunt, but he still only got Tony by a half-step. I think it's a bit tougher, but the player's skill at the task plays a larger role this year, imo. Also, I was really disappointed that my 9th-inning 2-run shot by J.J. at Wrigley didn't get thrown back. The crowd was even chanting "Throw it back..." Alas, PS2 is not nearly as cool as PS3. Remember when PS2 was the mack-daddio? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I'd faced the old 'b.s. game' factors in this one (exhibition game) against Zambrano, including him pegging two different batters as a part of game strategy - as in, no, these were not just missed pitches. He beaned Prince with 1B open in the 1st inning, and then tapped Hardy to get to Sheets with the bases loaded & two outs (J.J. loaded the bases). Yet when I plunked Z with Benny in the 6th inning, Ben was run without hesitation. My nice swings had almost all been right at their fielders, until J.J. took a Dempster pitch 397 ft. to RC. Gagne was nice, and so was Riske... it was surreal to recognize just how much better our 'pen is likely to be this year.
  11. I dont know Briggs - I think Turnbow is awesome. His problem IMO was that he was overworked and thats why he wears down and we all get so frustrated with him. With the upgraded depth in the BP I think that TBOW will be used a bit less which will make him FAR more productive. Don't forget that he was used incorrectly, which led to him being worn down. It's just mind-boggling to me how Yost can be so in-tune with some of his pitchers (like using Wise only on non-consecutive days), and at such a loss with how to utilize Derrick properly. I agree with your sentiments for the most part, aracko, but I really worry that we're going to see TBow used as a sort of righty specialist, which would mean coming in with baserunners fairly often. Hopefully the coaching staff can iron out plans - you know how Nedly loves his "_____ guy(s)" in the bullpen... those specific roles. I hate the concept of pigeon-holing guys & labeling them, but it obv. works (& can be necessary) with certain pitchers. It's pretty clear-cut that Gagne is the "closer", and Riske or TBow will be the "8th inning guy." With that, I'd rather see TBow as the 8th inning guy, as long as that means that Yost will turn to Torres/Riske/Mota when he needs a RP in a jam. Frankly, Riske seems perfectly suited to be the guy to pitch high-leverage situations in the mid-/late innings, as he does have a certain amount of talent in terms of stranding baserunners.
  12. Fill out the survey! Ok, I'll rank and state right off the bat that there really isn't much that separates these guys. Also, this may/may not eerily mirror my ranking of them as hitters in general. Weeks Braun Hart Hardy Cameron Hall Gross Dillon Kendall
  13. Good to see The Show 08 still has the phantom check-swing, and b.s. pickoffs - you know, the ones where you're frantically tapping R1 as the pitcher is turning slowly. Yeah, Cameron wouldn't ever get picked off by that throw. Come on.
  14. Mark & Co. put their money where their mouth is. Honestly, if these guys would take deals to buy out two-three years of FA, get all over this. Weigh the money towards the back ends of the contracts.
  15. The Tooth Fairy did stop by here and left $3.00 and a doll. Sheesh! Ummm... I just lost a tooth, but it's an adult tooth - totally worth more on the open market. My opening offer is a Wii.
  16. They guy probably is misinformed. Inexcusable. If he were uninformed and said something to the effect of, 'this guy's always hurt!', then I could brush it off. He's a fool for being both so uninformed and glib.
  17. Prince. Fielder. It's not even close for me. In the 'good problem to have' dept., there are several guys I would not feel bad about having up there, for whatever that's worth.
