  1. Come on though, don - you're putting the entire onus on Capuano for every facet of every start. There have been so many discussions as to just how badly the D negatively impacted Chris (arguably the most of any Brewers SP), how can you just ignore that? Perhaps I'm jumping to conclusions... are you basing your analyses soley on BBs, Ks? Even though that does leave out a pitcher's responsibility in giving up H's, the defense skews that aspect so much that I - personally - prefer to look at that over which the pitcher has the most control.
  2. JoeHova, I have to disagree with some others - I think the Symbol/logo is easily recognizeable & really sweet. Sbryl - I GET it! Hart! PRINCEiple! Those are like player's names! In all seriousness, it's a sweet design. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  3. Perhaps, one would say the brewers already have that player in Tony Gwynn Jr. but he is not really known as a stolen base artist. Or a 'singles hitter'... or even a 'hitter' Jemile Weeks could be that player. I'm not so sure he's as dynamic as a Ichiro, Lofton or Lou Brock type of player, but he's a pesky little bugger that plays good D' at 2B. He's not a huge SB threat, but he could manage 20-30 per year. Lil' Rickie? Even though I try to not get caught up in stuff like that, I have to admit it'd be kinda cool - but only if he turned out to be solid. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  4. ttsather, I know others will agree... just from watching MLB.tv/MLB Extra Innings, you get a pretty darn good picture of just how good we've got it. 'Spoiled' is probably the best way to put it - you're not being biased.
  5. I see you can get OutKast's ATLiens used for under $5.00. That's a total can't miss... but given that you're down near(ish) the A-T-L, you've probably already heard it. This is arguably the greatest hip-hop album ever.
  6. I'd watch a dog show if he was announcing it, even NBA basketball. And the sheltie has laid a steaming log on the judge's left shoe!! OH my! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif You got to remember though with guys like Aikman and Madden, they are coloring the number one games for their network. These games attract the most casual fans All the more reason to be descriptive beyond imaginary/secondary factors - inform your fans, don't cater to their lack of intelligence/knowledge. One reason bad (imho) sportscasters bother me is that there's no one to call them out when they say stupid crap, and then the casual fan begins to assume that stuff is real/true.
  7. I don't understand, though, how these state-run institutions can have hiring practices like this. I agree, RU. Can't make sense of the nepotism.
  8. Aikman imo just demonstrates every game he does that just because you played (or were really good at) a sport doesn't mean you have any idea how to explain why teams have success or meet with failures. He alway seems to be talking about things like a player's 'mentality' & how guys are 'winners.' I just get tired of him - sure, those things are important to a degree, but coming from what's sure to be a HoF former QB, I'd love to hear about a guy's throwing mechanics or footwork or progression on certain plays' reads (or O-line protections & schemes)... he just brings fluff so much more than substance imo.
  9. I love BA. Can't stand McGlocklin, Pashke almost is hurt by association. LePay's solid.
  10. Bob Uecker? Add another vote for Raftery. Joe Buck and Troy Aikman did a superb job at the Super Bowl last night, too. I don't even know what to say... never before have I watched the majority of the Super Bowl with the sound turned off. I kept wishing there was a way to mute just the announcers, as I love the crowd noise(s) of a sporting event. I loathe Buck's son, and Aikman is just... well, no point in me being any more of a jerk than I already have been here. EDIT: On the flip-side of the Fox NFL coin, I think Curt Menefee is spectacular.
  11. Bob Knight is as big a jerk as exists on this earth. Now, whether or not you think his resignation is a 'jerkish' move, that's up for debate imo. Based on the lead story on ESPN, Knight said he is tired and can't take it anymore. That whole 'got his 900th win' thing is such a coincidence! I guess Tech knew what they were getting into, and if not, that's just poor foresight. Here's hoping his son can coach & recruit - for their sake.
  12. Anyway, as for Bush, I was a HUGE Bush fan last year. I truly thought he was going to step up and be a viable number 2 last year. I thought that his peripheral's would preceede a big breakout season for Bush. Something to the tune of 3.35-3.55 with 15-17 wins and a 1.10 Whip. I saw he and Sheets being a very formidable 1-2 punch with Cappy, Suppan and Vargas rounding out the rotation until Gallardo came up. That's so funny... I can say I felt the same way, down to the last detail there. I think Bush should get a shot at SP, but not before Sheets, YoGa, or Villy. Between Soup, Bush, & Cappy, that's three #3-4 SP imho. I'm really hoping Cap is the one to go to the 'pen, & Vargas is the one sent outta town.
  13. That's just way to many inexcusable moves to not lose your job. If 2008 is not his last shot I'll be irate, considering that he shouldn't have even had a shot at his last shot. I dunno... the math is probably still on his side.
  14. lol... actually I didn't and I wasn't planning on it. Why don't you give it a shot? So, if you're not capable of providing an answer, why the taunt at Ennder? the video observation doesn't claim to report the information!! That's a low threshold for accuracy. It's much more accurate than, 'Hey! I remember...' Are you really attempting to claim that your/anyone's personal recollection is better than analyzing pitch by pitch?
  15. My understanding is fine. But hey, you argue that it isn't supposed to predict 2007 at all[/i], and in the next sentence say that PECOTA projected them as impact players for 2007. No, he said it doesn't predict 2007 at all by your framing of the argument.
  16. But forget that. Are you able to describe Cappy's skillset? Not statistically, but description. Lemme guess... you are! Thank goodness! But hey, you were claiming that scrappy Cappy wasn't hit hard and that raw data openly admits to not giving that information, so what good is that? Heck, if you said you like him as a player and your impression was this and that, it would work for me. Its not like you or I are going to affect the decisions of the team or his performance. Well, all you're doing is making some random recollection of what you believe happened, so I have no reason to believe the video observation isn't much more accurate.
  17. There is a reason why he didn't play anything from Wildflowers because none of them are recognizable. Whether or not some tenny-bopper that listens to Z104 can pick out a song has nothing to do with how much I like them. I never took issue with anything but you claiming he hadn't turned out any good music in 15-ish years. Was I waiting for It's Good to be King or Honeybee? No, absolutely not. As many have mentioned, they played the right set.
  18. In an effort to cut down on the frequent-flier miles Ennder piles up on the Cappy threads... Chris pitched basically the same for 2005, 2006, & 2007. Honestly, just not that much different. He had a terrible defense behind him in 2007, bad run support iirc, and the bullpen was worst following him than any other Brewers SP.
  19. Why is it commonly held that Bush was one of our worst starters as far as short starts? Because people take a few extreme instances and treat them as reality/fact?
  20. Your puppy pandering is pointless and pathetic. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif alliteration is awesome.
  21. Ha! Very nice. Wildflowers had a couple good songs, none of which were played last night. Wildflowers imo has zero weak tracks, but I think Barbs just isn't a fan of Petty, so no use in debating - all subjective. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  22. No kidding, lukevan. I have to imagine they'll set the record for worst investment in Super Bowl advertising. That was one that I did see. It was nice to see T-Mobile (right?) delivering the pay-off after the Charles/D-Wade "who's in your 5" saga the past year or so. It shows good planning and foresight by the marketing department. Good point, Ry & bc00. It was definitely funny, & very well-planned - I'd just forgotten about it.
  23. - tide commercial (talking stain on shirt during interview) That was one of the better ones, for sure.
  24. The system did poorly with those three players despite your selective choice of statistics Can you expand? The numbers & percentiles seemed pretty accurate to me.
