  1. That loss was awesome. No better way to say it. You know what they say about that Ann Arbor girl...
  2. Time to bang around Youman. From what I've seen on him, it sounds like Tracy is sort of reluctantly trotting him out there today. Perhaps some consistent ABs against LHP will help Braun get himself rolling again. Let's go Crew!
  3. Just a famous work in Van Gogh's "Sunflowers" line of still-lifes. Sorry, I was gonna caption it, but I figured people would realize it was a Van Gogh, then either count (if they're dorks like me) or assume the total was 15. Should've just captioned it, sorry! http://static.yuku.com//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/embarassed.gif It's a tad obscure, but I've always loved the painting. Sunflowers

  6. This is an odd one, just to forewarn: even though I don't love Estrada... Stupid baseballs! Always jumping up into his face & chest! Seriously, that guy took a pounding tonight. Well done, Johnny - he's nothing if not tough.
  7. I watched that broadcast, Big Reed, and to me it sounded more like Brenly speculation/wishing-he-was-a-manager-still than, "This is officially what the Cubs are doing." No offense, just wanted to weigh in that this was merely a suggestion of possibility by their color guy.
  8. brewman, not trading prospects for an over-the-hill pitcher is showing signs of giving up on your team? Does anyone realize this is Steve Trachsel? EDIT: If the Cubs go on to lose to the Astros today, and we can pick up a win over the Pirates, that's back to a game & a half. Why are so many people counting this past series as the official end of the regular season? This is getting ridiculous.
  9. The Cubs' payroll isn't quite $175 mil. You may have been sarcastic, though - not sure
  10. the notion that Trachsel is the final piece to any team's puzzle at this point in his career is a joke.
  11. I usually don't weigh in on lineup threads, but this moring has got me thinking... Hart Hardy Weeks Fielder Braun Jenks/Mench Hall/Gross Estrada/Miller P Perhaps on days Gross is in the lineup - Hart Gross Weeks Fielder Braun Jenks Hall Estrada P I know much of Rickie's success has come since his move back to leadoff, so my hunch might be off. If so, ah well...
  12. trwi7, I share the loathing. They even showed the Corey Hart "Strike 3", and their newest former-player moron analyst said (essentially), "Mar-mul [can't even pronounce a name correctly] was filthy!" No mention of leaving Mench in to hit, either, but that's waaaaaaay too much to ask from those simpletons. And such as.
  13. Welcome aboard! Great to hear a lot of sense in your first post. http://static.yuku.com//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/glasses.gif
  14. I am now 40% more angry at Ned Yost. That puts my total somewhere up over 300% angry at Ned Yost. I like Steve Stone's math, it can be useful.
  15. DJ43, that's my vote so far for post of the year. I, too, watched the game with a Cubs fan. He didn't even say much. He just dropped his jaw, and said, "Wowwwwww. That pitch was definitely not a strike." In not-surprising-in-any-way news, this made me feel 0% better.
  16. that's technically all they would have needed to do, which is sad & pathetic. And why I wouldn't doubt that it happened in the least. Or that they just flat-out made up the stat. For the children. And the Asian countries. I'd honestly love to type to her wall, "You are unintelligible." Just to watch her leap right on that sword, making fun of me for not knowing how to spell "unintelligent" and being a hypocrite. It's obvious that she's smart and the only explanation for people pointing out what a stupid, vapid, brainless bimbo she is are just jealous. Right. And such.
  17. holy crap. Too bad there isn't a "Delusional, Scared, Self-Esteem Impaired, One-Dimensional Losers" facebook group. Maybe she can start it! Seriously, do not miss this link. Ugh. "I was nervous!" Yes, which somehow managed to make you even more of a moron. Embarassment to our country is right.
  18. GSP, please do keep those gems coming as you can get 'em. Kudos to you for being able to stomach watching an entire game of that garbage, bc I simply can't do it. But those quotes are beautiful. Esp. #s 2 & 5
  19. This "pitchFX" stuff confuses me. Apparently, I'm just a simple caveman (perhaps my fave Phil Hartman character - non-Simpsons, that is)... I get what pitch break is, but the GameDay screen has me flummoxed with the newer term. Anyone care to help me out?
  20. We quibble because it's a stupid comment to make, whether he claimed it was scientific or not. Just some good-natured mocking http://static.yuku.com//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/smile.gif
  21. I actually liked your white flag at the time - made me chuckle. This is so much sweeter though
  22. Geez rluz, no 10,000 simulations to test this theory? I respected you before this.
  23. Love the new avatar, H4P - especially given the complete one-eighty you pulled (& it symbolizes) from your previous pic. http://static.yuku.com//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/smile.gif Yay Mench! What a terrible matchup for us. And sheesh - what does it say about Hall that Mench is actually ahead of him. C'mon Billy, we need you buddy. Last scatter-brained note: Hooray Miller time!

  25. true, but as mentioned, it seems like there is some credibility to the 'they messed with his mechanics' notion. I understand your point is meant to be bigger-picture than that, but he's had some good outings thus far. And, kinda like Turnbow, more often than not, with gas like his, McClung will be 'good' as opposed to 'bad.' Although Turnbow really can be spooky sometimes, it's just plain easier to remember meltdowns than what is widely viewed as Doing Your Job. Please keep this in mind regarding Derrick: In 58 1/3 IP, 1.23 WHIP, .302 OBA, .266 SLGA, .568 OPSA, .179 BAA. The guy, while he certainly can be hit-or-miss, just tends to hit so much more often than miss. I guarantee you other teams don't look forward to facing him (especially given that fastball he threw over the batter's head not too long ago...)
