  1. It's pretty clear at this point that Hellweg should be tracked into a bullpen role. Let him focus on commanding his FB & one other pitch.

  3. No worries, WTP. I missed this reply until now. I should've paid better attention to that existing thread in the Transactions Forum. Hope this is a good solution.
  4. Please see the MiLB forum for continuing discussion on the original Greinke trade with KC involving Jeffress. Apologies for cutting a good, healthy discussion short! viewtopic.php?f=64&t=31152
  5. I'm asking this out of curiosity and not trying to be difficult, but why was the other thread locked so quickly? I enjoy some of these conversations that begin kinda organically and lead to a deeper conversation or spout into a different discussion than exactly what the title of the thread discussed. I locked it once the signing was official & there was an MLB forum thread on it (which, to my understanding, is how things have always been done here on topics like this). I didn't put any more thought into it than that. I could re-create the thread in the MiLB forum at this point... last thing I wanted to do was stifle discussion.
  6. Carlos Gonzalez for 1. Tulowitzki sits at 52pts. That park really adds a ton to BA. Tulo's actually at a 42 point split, but wow -- yeah, Gonzalez at ~60 points. I know Coors is about the most AVG-affecting park in recent memory, but I had no idea Gonzalez's splits were that extreme.
  7. At worst, he's worth auditioning for the big-league bullpen. My wish is that the club would give him time with Lee Tunnel (in Milwaukee) when the Sounds & Brewers were both home for a few days. Address the mechanics, & then let him cut it loose in Nashville.
  8. 17 games into the season, and a franchise-record-tying 3-HR game is cause for concern, eh? Tough room. A bit of stat cherry picking on my part, but still. Since the beginning of last year, Braun has only hit 12 homers in roughly half a season of at bats. For a guy who averaged roughly 35 homers a year at the beginning of his career, I believe that's cause for concern, especially considering his thumb and all the other issues of the past 12 months. Look around the league -- the current list of guys with a sub-.700 OPS in the NL includes Heyward, Wright, Granderson, Craig, Sandoval, Pence, Headley, & Hill. Braun's OPS is .797, even though he hasn't looked completely like his normal self yet. I'm not worried at this point.

  10. Home/Road AVG 2012: .268/.250 2013: .356/.311 I stand corrected. Guess he doesn't know how to take advantage of the hitting confines in Coors. Guess what I really was guessing at was that his BA at another ballpark called home i.e. Miller Park he'd see his Avg drop there around 70pts...but it appears more like 30pts instead. The guy I wanted Milw to sign was Justin Morneau who so happens to play for Colorado too(forgot about that) and is off to a .346/.386/.538 start with 4-2bs 2HRs in 18hits. And 3 bbs to 7Ks in 57PAs. (somehow we couldn't put a 2/12.5+ offer on the table? What players have a +70-ish point split on their AVG at home at Coors v. playing on the road?

  12. Aha ... now the last byline or whatever you'd call it makes sense. I didn't include it initially. I'll edit the post now...
  13. Easy, SoupTown. I get that you feel strongly about this, but imho it's pretty clear that his shoulder injury is affecting him. He really should be rested for a few days in a row as a first step.
  14. BTA! We are honored by your presence And honestly, almost anything Lakefront puts out these days is worth tasting. I picked up some Lagunitas Little Sumpin' Sumpin' Ale last night. If you like hops, just a great beer. Iirc logan has touted it previously. Also grabbed some New Belgium Summer Helles. Good, not great, much how I feel about most of their stuff. Definitely don't regret buying it. I always like trying out German-style brews.

  16. Not your fault that a business in the communications industry can't be bothered to make sure they're communicating properly!
  17. Is there confirmation for this yet?
  18. Let's keep this on the Jeffress signing. If the discussion WTP picked back up wants to continue, we can make a thread to revisit the trade(s) in question.
  19. Yes...this is a double-edged sword though. I think the Brewers will be too close to competing this year to make a move of one of our 1-5. While I think this would be the most beneficial to the long term, I doubt Melvin would actually do this. In fact, I would be hesitant to do it unless it brought back a prospect or player that would be close to a guaranteed producer at 1B or 3B in the long term. Ultimately, I think Estrada may have more value to us than what we could realistically receive in any trade. I don't see us acquiring anything more than a Delmonico-type prospect. I think you are underestimating Estrada's value. The White Sox got Adam Eaton for Hector Santiago and Estrada's track record is more impressive than Santiago's. Not saying Eaton is great, but he's a decent leadoff hitter with on base skills. And we got Delmonico for 22 IP of K-Rod. Estrada would bring back a far better return than Delmonico.
  20. I could see them taking Figaro off the 40 man, but that may be only to put T. Green on it. Velez, I assume matches up with Gennett better being a switch hitter, though I can't see Velez's splits against lefties. Who would be considered the better defensive player - Green or Velez? Career .484 OPS in the bigs against lefties.
  21. agreed, it was a stupid move, not a move that cost us the game though. Yeah, in the scheme of things, this was rather irrelevant. Stupid, yes. Annoying, yes. Cost us the game? Uhhh.... Doubling down and quoting yourself that it cost us the game? Weird. Same team, fellas. Easy now.
  22. Cuddyer in Coors park add like 70pts to his BA. And Colorado won't trade him if they are in the playoff hunt. You never know with that offensive punch they have of Cargonzo/Tulo/Rosario/Cuddyer. Arenado is coming along. Their pitching still is terrible but not as terrible as last year. Home/Road AVG 2012: .268/.250 2013: .356/.311
