  1. odd that they pitched to him. What a run producing machine since thames and agular became ghost in august when the team needed them. .818 OPS & 17 RBI from Aguilar so far this month is hardly disappearing
  2. I'm normally not one that wants to see any manager big-timing the umpires, but in this case I agree 100%. This team could use more fire in the belly right now, and what a clear opportunity to make a show of things. But he just accepted it. I know a tantrum wouldn't had changed the call, but migod, light it up Craig.
  3. Locked this since the trade didn't happen. Starting rotation talk can move back to the 2018 Starting Rotation thread: viewtopic.php?f=63&t=35730&start=660
  4. Discussion is in the Transactions forum, starting with this post
  5. If you like comedies, you'll love this game. And this team. Oh, it's not the speed really so much. I just wish I hadn't drunk all that cough syrup this morning, ya know?
  6. Baseball Reference is the best I know of https://www.baseball-reference.com/draft/?query_type=year_round&year_ID=2018&draft_round=1&draft_type=junreg& -- the third option there is to sort by franchise & year
  7. This is a spoof of a John Lennon lyric. I wasn't really making a point. Bed-in for nontraditional bullpen roles
  8. Agreed that MLB Network does a good job of covering the league & not just the largest media markets.
  9. This is a really good read.
  10. Nice to see Hiura is back to his hit-machine ways. Must be healed up.

  12. It was fun watching how hard Puig hustled after that laser to try to keep it to a single
  13. For what is worth: Jon Lester FIP 4.66, Jose Quintana FIP 4.69, Robbie Ray 4.72, Julio Tehran 5.33. Pitchers can still succeed with a FIP at that level. Shields primarily is protection for the bullpen when the other starters leave after 4 2/3. Quintana 4.26 ERA Ray 5.05 ERA Teheran 4.46 ERA You can be lucky beyond your FIP, but I don't want those FIPs or those earned run results. Just because Lester has outperformed a bad FIP doesn't mean it's wise to ignore FIP (it's not the be-all end-all, either though). None of those guys above are either succeeding or look like improvements to our rotation.
  14. I admit I haven't done any recent looking into Shields, but I have very little interest in adding a 4.68 FIP
  15. Please leave the Sogard & race discussion where it lies. Nothing bad yet, so let's leave it alone. Thank you!

  17. He gave that everything he had. I wonder if he kinda knew that was his last hitter tonight.
