  1. I have zero interest in Straily. Not much upside in my opinion.
  2. Giving up a haul for Fulmer makes little sense to me when it's obvious this team needs multiple bats.
  3. Archer was a major bullet dodged.
  4. They had better not hire Hornicek. Why hire a retread who's failed in both of his opportunities? I'd rather give a guy like Monty Williams a chance.
  5. Parker is a good one. Not sure how the committee stands, but I'd say he is a stronger candidate than Simmons. His counting stats are better plus he might have been the best player in the game for a few years in the late 70s.
  6. I fully expect Ted Simmons to get in with the new "modern era" committee- not sure if he deserves it though. Of the rest, the only one I see as on the cusp would be CC. Greinke would probably need another 4-5 years without a significant drop off. Braun is out due to the juicing, and I don't think Aramis' offensive stats pop enough in this era.
  7. He thinks he's going to turn baseball on it's side with his revolutionary new strategies. Thinks he's the smartest guy in the room.
  8. Mets would probably ask for Burnes. Maybe d'Arnaud would be added if Brewers offered Hiura or Hader as well.
  9. I wouldn't give up more than fodder for McHugh considering his salary. A soft tosser who has difficulty going deep into games. I wouldn't even consider Santana or Phillips. I have to think the Brewers have guys in house who could perform just as well if given the opportunity for a much lower cost
  10. Not sure about Jenkins worthiness, but I will take my annual opportunity to say where the heck is Del Crandall? Honor the man while he is still able to enjoy it.
  11. Win-Loss Record: 83-79 Playoffs (Yes, No): No Highest Playoff Level Achieved: N/A All Star Game Representative(s):. Yelich, Knebel Offensive Player of the Year: Yelich Pitcher of the Year:. Knebel Most Surprising Player:. Phillips Most Disappointing Player:. Cain Predicting a step back. Got a feeling that both starting pitching and bullpen outside of Knebel will be an issue all year. Thinking Cain struggles with injuries and Maverick steps in with a big second half. Villar has a hot start then disappears. Offense overall somewhere in the middle of first half and second half of 17.
  12. Call me crazy, but I would have retained Swarzak. I have a bad feeling about the pen this year.
  13. Best news of the offseason, so glad I don't have to worry about the Brewers getting stupid with him anymore. Bullet dodged!
  14. Neil looks to be the Jody Reed Award winner for this off season. Barring an injury, I hope the Brewers pass.
  15. Bottom line is these guys obviously have an inflated sense of their own value. Just because they were near the top rated in a down market does not make them top starters. Now they find themselves in a bad situation due to their greed. I agree with the idea that they are hoping to get bailed out with an injury somewhere at this point. I think the Brewers should pass at this point unless they are willing to accept one or maybe two years.
  16. No way would I sign a pitcher to big money after mid-March. It would take them a month to get into shape.
  17. This is precisely why I'm so against putting all the eggs in one basket and trading multiple assets for a pitcher at this point in the season. Imagine how deflating this would have been had the Brewers just acquired Stroman
  18. My guess is that Luc goes somewhere on a one year deal for more than we'd expect... Prob eight figures. It's not going to be the Brewers though, that bridge has been burned.
  19. I'm not really interested in Corbin as I don't see him as an upgrade to what the Brewers already have.
  20. Yes in the sense he has been used as almost a throw in with several of the trade proposals I've seen. Almost an afterthought as a piece of the rotation as well.
  21. I'd say someone with over half quality starts with WHIP, ERA and strikeout pct all better than overall league average. That probably puts the total list around 20 or 25 in any given season. I'm thinking less than half of those would be considered " aces".
  22. Brewers dodged a bullet here. I think this deal is really going to look bad in 2 or 3 years. I'd like to think that their involvement forced the Cubs to go 6 years Still an even more dangerous bullet on the horizon... I'm hoping to see Arrieta go elsewhere as well.
  23. Bauer has some real upside, and is younger and cheaper than Archer. He probably has a longer shelf life as well. He's had some stretches where he looks like a TOR pitcher. If Cleveland is looking to move Kipnis, I'd take him too. How about Santana, Villar and any minor leaguer not named Burnes or Hiura for the pair?
  24. Just sign Cobb for Pete's sake. Would anybody be that surprised if he outperformed Archer next year? That proposed four for one deal above is godawful. I could see pillaging the farm for a pitcher if you are a few games in first place in mid July, but why now? Sounds like everyone who inquired about Archer walked away as soon as they heard the asking price.
  25. I highly doubt that Luc would take another bargain basement deal from the Brewers. Guy has just been a victim of bad timing....had he hit the market two years ago, he'd probably get tens of millions more. I'm not going to feel sorry for a multimillionaire, but is it a stretch to say that he may have cost himself $50 million or more in career earnings by agreeing to the extension with the Brewers?
