  1. Hopefully the Brewers remember that nothing precludes them from trying to extend Lucroy if they are lowballed. They have tons of flexibility with the payroll moving forward. It's not like he is 37 or something either. I would hope that the Brewers are competitive again before he's past his prime.
  2. Settling for d'Arnaud and secondary prospects would make me irate. That's a Dean Taylor special if I've ever seen one...."at least we got something before he left and we got nothing".
  3. Is that why they are trying to get a big time pitcher? They reportedly offed a ton for Sale. I'm sure they have offed a lot for lesser starters too. Not buying the Sale talk. I'm guessing that this will play out just like 2012 when they got Dempster as opposed to Greinke . No skin off my nose, though I wish the Brewers would stop wasting their time with them.
  4. I highly doubt that anything gets done with either Texas. Their MO is to stockpile prospect depth. Have to think the GM there is gun-shy about making a deal that will look bad on his record in 5 years.
  5. Unless something great is coming back, I don't see why you'd trade him. He's certainly not a throw in to get someone to sweeten the pot. From what I've seen, he has pretty good stuff....I don't get the smoke and mirrors type vibe that i did from Fiers. A cheap and controllable guy like this is exactly what the Brewers should be looking for at this stage. Probably a mid rotation guy, but definitely some upside.
  6. I've got a hunch it's going to be the Dodgers. Probably a pitcher going with him for Puig/pitching prospect.
  7. I nominate "Fat Johnny" Estrada. We found out pretty quickly why the Brewers were his 4th team in as many years.
  8. Lucroy and it's not really close. Simmons has always been the default answer to this, but he really only caught the first few years in MKE, and was mostly a DH after that.
  9. Gallo screams Russell Branyan to me. No doubt he will hit a lot of homers, but too many holes in his bat to be a true impact player.
  10. I'll be livid if Lucroy is traded for a handful of teenage A ballers. Bottom line if Texas wants him, it's Profar plus prospects, if Detroit wants him it's Norris plus prospects and so on. Premier players simply aren't moved at the deadline without one blue chipper coming back, especially when it's not a rental scenario.
  11. The proposed deals with the Giants are preposterous. Why would the Brewers trade Braun for middling prospects while eating salary- in effect, buying those players for well into eight figures while trading the teams most reliable offensive player? In a climate where the likes of Justin Upton and Jason Heyward command 9 figure deals (and forfeited draft picks for the privilege)? No way. You would think that Braun is having an awful season as opposed to being one of the most productive players in the league. If a team wants to acquire Braun, they had better ante up and be ready to take the entire contract.
  12. The Brewers dodged a bullet with the Wheeler deal last summer, why would they go back again? He's damaged goods and it seems like a lifetime ago he was traded for Beltran.... his career path is starting to take the trajectory of Bill Pulsipher's. I will admit that I wanted to see him gone after his off-season interview, but now I say any deal for Lucroy at this point should begin with the other team's top prospect. If that's 'unreasonable', I'd just hold onto him.
  13. I probably posted this earlier in the thread, but if I'm the Brewers, I'm not offering one thin dime in salary relief for Braun. I'm also not taking back a bad contract in the deal. Chances are high that he'd be going to a big market team, no reason they couldn't take the remaining salary. I'd also expect a good return. If these criteria can't be met, may as well just keep him. Whoever put that Boston trade proposal on the fangraphs has zero credibility in my book. Sounds like something Red Sox homer Peter Gammons would propose.
  14. Exactly. Texas, the Mets and Atlanta are teams that I don't have much interest in dealing with moving forward.... waste of time.
  15. What a d-bag move by Roberts. I hope that they lose this game.
  16. You cannot look at deals like Heyward and Upton received and say that Braun is above market. I'm not deluding myself into thinking that he would demand a king's ransom in a trade on the open market, but I'm not giving him away either. I'm on board with the rebuild, but at the same time I don't think that you need to slash every big salary that you have just because.
  17. Far too early to give up on Jabari. 20 years old and barely a season under his belt. He will come around, not everyone peaks at 20 like Brandon Jennings. That said, I'd be actively moving Carter-Williams (if there is any interest) though... kid is regressing.
  18. I don't have any interest in Gallo. Though I've argued that he's overhyped in the past, I'd be asking for Profar, with the intention of sliding him over to second base.
  19. Not sure, but if I'm the Brewers, I'm not eating one cent of his salary. Not with the sort of money that stiffs like Heyward and Upton have gotten on the open market. Braun at his worst probably puts up offensive numbers similar to what those guys will. I'd rather keep him if it comes to that. The Brewers are going to likely need a first baseman down the road anyway, that makes too much sense not to happen at some point.
  20. To me, the bottom line is if the Brewers had given him an 50 or 75 million dollar extension last year at this time, we wouldn't be hearing this from Lucroy. I truly believe that he's trying to force them into a trade to a team that will try to lock him up with a multi year deal. I think it's about money pure and simple, much more so than 'winning'. That said, I really don't think that these comments have hurt his trade value much... certainly not as much as his performance last season did. The ship has already sailed in regards to getting a king's ransom back for him if you ask me.
  21. From what I heard, if Block goes, Levering is going to get the 2 spot and they will be looking for someone to fill the Uecker role on road games. Not a huge fan of Jeff based on what I heard from him last year.
  22. He was barely hitting his weight for most of the season, and didn't start hitting until months after the team was buried in the standings. The thing that gets me is that he acts like he's above the situation the team is currently in. You'd think that he'd had an MVP type season last year and is tired on carrying the team on his back, when in reality he was subpar when he actually saw the field. Not the type of guy that you want around young players, so I want him gone.
  23. Like all of these guys, you can read between the lines to see that this is more about money than winning. Lucroy has obviously checked out since the team rejected his extension overtures last year. I think that his career season back in 2014 has made people think that he is better than he is.... most notably Lucroy himself. The fact of the matter is that he stunk last year and was a key contributor to the brutal season. He killed the team and his trade value took a big hit. Some 'leader'. I say move him before the season starts, take the best offer that you get.
  24. I know that his solo stuff isn't critically acclaimed, but I liked a lot of it. I saw a great dual bill with Frey and Joe Walsh on one of the free stages at Summerfest back in 93, and went to the Hell Freezes Over concert the next year at Alpine. Sad to know that the Eagles are no more.
  25. I'm fairly certain that Mitchell and Ness made the 88 Molitor road jersey with the Harvey Kuenn patch at one time, but I'm not seeing any available so not sure.
