  1. I read over on their board where they thought it might be middle of the pack. They will likely get a ton of picks after this year. I think they have something like 7 Type A or B free agents, but that is just what I read on their board. Berkman is also a free agent after this year so he will get a nice raise. Oddly enough he is only a Type B right now. The free agent part is true, but several would accept arbitration. I think Dotel and Jackson is pretty much it for guys that wouldn't accept it. Maybe Berkman, but apparently he likes it there a lot and he's making $8M and having a big year....he'd probably make $12M in arby. Oh, and Pujols of course. (edited Pujuls spelling. Show more class than the Cardinals -TC)
  2. Astros' tragic number is 7. So they should be eliminated by Sunday or Monday. Pretty pathetic.
  3. Your first line if for effect right? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Anyway, I don't think the Brewers can catch the phillies. The Brewers would probably have to go about 30-10 while Philly went 22-23........possible but damn unlikely. 4 game sweep would help, but I think it's over.
  4. Yep. That's it. Correct decision probably. Just makes the pitching matchups in this series worse, but it had to be done.
  5. I'm trying to remember why Greinke was moved up to Friday. The pitching matchups for this series would be more palatable if it was Greinke vs. Kershaw and Estrada vs. Eovaldi. Not a huge deal, but it'd be better.
  6. Is this serious? Now we are benching Hart and McGehee? This has to be the best post ever. Do people really think they are just going to bring someone up and replace Hart's 800+ ops that easily? This cannot be a serious statement. It's about the 220th best post ever.
  7. Agree. It's not like he tires himself on defense. Ride his bat the whole way.
  8. He's got good numbers, but man, that walk rate is pretty ugly. I just don't get why it's not Peralta
  9. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif Prophetic indeed.
  10. ^^ It really seems to me that Roenicke is learning from some of his mistakes re: bullpen management. I wish he'd use guys for more than 1 inning occasionally, but since the K-Rod deal, he's done a great job with the bullpen. I've been hard on Roenicke, but it seems he's coming around (amazing how a 12 out of 13 run can do that).
  11. I'm assuming we already know this is true. I'd be surprised if the White Sox hadn't already put him on waivers this month. It is absolutely amazing to me how bad Dunn has been this year. I thought he'd have a terrific year in that bandbox. Shows what I know.
  12. God, that looks so much better. It'll look really good when Rickie gets back.
  13. Yup........that's what I was thinking. I was also thinking that my wife is due that day. Could be a pretty busy one. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  14. Maybe JP Morgan can buy the team.
  15. You must be so excited for the possiblity. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  16. He sure is. And just thinking about the folks here who had him gone and wanted guys like Barmes to replace him. Would have been a lateral move a few weeks ago and now it would just be awful. Just another example of just doing the opposite of what is talked about here works almost everytime. I'd trade Betancourt for Barmes in a cocaine heartbeat.
  17. In fact, Baseball Prospectus says there is an approximately 3.1% chance of someone other than the Brewers or Cardinals winning the division. Darn it, too confident........thanks for doing the legwork for me....
  18. That clown with the Homer Simpson avatar is the best. He found that the p-value for the Brewers' home record is 0.057. His interpretation? There is a 94.3% chance that the Brewers are stealing signs at home. He also said that this is the same as saying "There is a 5.7% chance that this could have occurred simply as the result of variation.". Fangraphs should pick it up just to show how ridiculous the claims are. If his p-value is accurate (actually I think it's high), we should see 1-2 teams every year have a home split like the Brewers. In defense of 94.3% of the posters on Gateway Redbirds, I think he is just the resident clown, and his arguments have persuaded very few on that site. That site is a great example of how 5% of a message board can ruin the discussion, and how great this message board is at keeping out the riff raff (I've just snuck under their radar). I agree 100%. I went over there to see what they were saying about game 1, saw the cheating thread, trolled for 1 post (admittedly) and have had a great time since. The Homer Simpson guy is just an idiot. Pretty much everyone else there is pretty cool.
  19. 5 games seems about right. As someone said, he'll appeal and get it knocked down to 3. Although, they can't beat the Astros too well with him, so maybe they can sit him against someone worse...........
  20. I would be very very confident betting that the Brewers finish 10 games ahead of the Pirates. It's a two horse race. I would say there's a less than 2% chance of anyone other than The Brewers or Cardinals winning the division. Haven't looked it up yet, but that's my guess.
  21. I've received that exact message on several occasions, but not in the last week.
