  1. The sick part is I agree Greg. How bad is it when Kotsay is currently the best option (debatably) to hit 2nd. I'd hit Lucroy there personally.
  2. Well, hopefully we dump Almonte when Hart returns in the next few days. Then when Plush returns it'll be a choice between Boggs and Kotsay, and I think we all already know what the result of that decision will be, regardless of any numbers Boggs puts up... No, because we are carrying 13 pitchers. A pitcher will go when Hart is activated. Then either Boggs or Almonte will go when Morgan comes back. So, you're saying we're going to carry six outfielders? I find that pretty hard to believe.
  3. I just want to make sure this is a serious comment before I make it my sig. Anyone want to weigh in? Edit: Valpo Crusader's Fielder comment.
  4. Yep, his .871 ops with crap defense was AWESOME last year: Wow. You couldn't be more wrong. Just drop it already.
  5. If they trade for Alexi Casilla he becomes the starter immediately. At least I would hope. Edit: I checked his defense and it's not that great. Maybe not an immediate starter, but probably a better player than we can get for Kottaras.
  6. Yeah, I should've made myself more clear. I don't think he's worth $5M either, but if you can get Toronto to eat say $3M and not give up much of a prospect, I think it's worth considering. A couple of more things enter into my thinking as well: 1. I don't think Hart is going to be healthy all year. 2. I've always liked Rivera as a player. 3. I can not wait until the day Kotsay is gone. I'm getting p!ssed just typing about him.
  7. Is available and would be a nice bench player. He'd be a nice right-handed stick off the bench and very good insurance for a relapse for Hart. Plus it'd make Kotsay not a Brewer. I'd imagine they wouldn't have to give up anything of value for him. The biggest stumbling block is of course his roughly $5M owed for the rest of this season. Thoughts?
  8. Wasn't it 2008 that Gagne served up the tater to Fukudome? Good omen methinks. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  9. No, I think on the replay it looked like McGehee just did not get the tag on. Really bad mistake. Thanks.........I was listening on the radio and Uecker called him out (of course). You could hear the fans cheering wildly though, so I knew he missed the tag. 5 seconds later Uecker realized it too.
  10. Awesome................was it a bad call on McGehee's play?
  11. I had a similar reaction except in the opposite order.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I thought the Cardinals were going to stink before this, now I think they're going to really stink. Aside from seeing Greinke and Marcum pitch, the thing I am looking most forward to is watching the Cardinals outfield attempt to play defense. That oughtta be good.
  12. I'd be shocked if Galarraga weren't traded. They just gave him a $2.3M contract. I'm guessing they wouldn't have done that if they didn't know there was a market for him. I can't believe they DFA'ed him. He's really not that bad. Not good, but not terrible. He'll be in someone's rotation.
  13. I forget what a bad fielder Podsednik is... you would think with his speed he should be better, but he's not.You could say the same thing about Braun and Hart. Add in Podsednik just to claim you have the fastest outfield with the worst defense. Yep. All the more reason Podsednik is a terrible idea. The Cardinals' outfield would be significantly better than that, even with Holliday and Berkman butchering it up out there.
  14. I don't think he can handle left, let alone center. He's always been a pretty terrible outfielder. That would be outstanding. A .700 OPS out of Carlos with his excellent defense would be a huuuuuuge boost out of him. I remain highly skeptical however. My biggest concern is that if the roster stays where it is right now (which I hope to high heaven it doesn't), our bench is going to be terrible. Counsell, Dickerson, Boggs, backup catcher is abysmal. Gamel needs to stick just so there can be some threat of offense off of the bench. I really wish Hinske had signed, but Mat needs to be in the big leagues this year. Service time be damned.
  15. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif Good Call.
  16. Scutaro would be absolutely perfect. Good shortstop you can stick in the 2 hole, assuming he can OBP around .350. That lineup you wrote out is my dream at this point, but I seriously doubt we can take on all that payroll. You could get the Red Sox to eat some salary, but then you'd have to give up prospects we don't really have to spare. It'll be interesting to see what Doug does. I'd much rather have Scutaro than Cameron personally, but both would be sweet.
  17. Link I agree 100%. Take some of the Covey money and put it toward this kid. I don't really have any idea what he'd be looking for, but I'd take a run at him. Failing that, I would invest some of Covey's money in Latin America.
  18. Well thought-out, and an easy yes from me. Those are they type of pitchers we should be targeting.
