  1. This definitely should have been factored into the calculation for sure. These seven games it would be nice to have him on our side. No, it should hot have. To make a trade for a player because an opponent you play a few times in the next week or two is after that guy is the kind of short sighted (and just plain dumb) move that Stearns has avoided. The decision to not trade for Machado can be, easily, well defended and no amount of stating one's opinion as fact will change that. If this thing completely implodes again this year then I think there will be plenty of pressure on DS (and CC for that matter). Having said that, we all knew we were entering a rebuild and we all expected that rebuild to take five years. It's year three. It's a shame Nelson was hurt this year but that was a big loss. This team has holes but it isn't that far away and there are pieces in place to fix those holes. This right here. Perfect.
  2. I've been called a lot of things, but scary isn't one of them, then again Millennials are easily scared. I'm 46 dude.
  3. They were good moves, but acquiring players in the winter is like hitting home runs in the third inning. They're good but not decisive. He has yet to show in back to back years that he can finish the job and get the man he wants in the 9th inning with the season on the line. And there's that releasing Scooter Gennett move too. Say what you want about Doug Melvin, but when he set his sights on the playoffs, he got his man. Twice in fact. The scariest part of this is that there are people that actually believe this stuff.
  4. I'd take Dozier if the price is right. Not sure how his market will develop. I think he'll be within 10% of Machado WAR-wise the rest of the year. I'd probably do Woodruff for him, but I'm lower in Woodruff than most here. I'm certainly not panicking to get him either. I think I'd call and offer Woodruff.....see what they think. After that, I'm looking for pen arms. Don't have to be world beaters l, but I'd like to add a couple. Starters are welcome of course. I'd offer Hiura, Burnes and Ortiz for DeGrom. No interest in Syndegaard.
  5. There's a decent chance Machado doesn't get traded at simply because Baltimore will run out of time to give the physicals. What a trainwreck of an organization. Reminds of the Wendy Selig-Prieb/Dean Taylor days.
  6. Brilliantly put! The fact he was attacking top bat in trade market & just fell in a close 2nd in pretty competitive race shows he has the stones to go after it & stones to stick to what he believes is the true value. No, all it shows is that he thrives on getting praise for getting close. "I'm trying really, really hard" doesn't cut it. The team will be out of it after they get blasted by the Dodgers the next couple weeks. Man, just another terrible take completely devoid of logic.
  7. Pretty happy we passed it that was the package. That's a pretty big overpayment in my mind. His defense is going to hurt them more than some think. Big bat. Lead glove.
  8. I love this. And also, of course now the Orioles decide they’re into International prospects. And "Urgent" is about this one time Larry Sorenson had to pee really bad.
  9. So you'd rather have Diaz and Yamamoto than Arcia and Ortiz? To steer back to the topic, still hoping the Yankees get Machado. Burnes & Peralta are flat 'nos' from me. Woodruff/Phillips I could live with but that's about it. Edit: That question was for clancyphile.
  10. 19 Descalso pitching in the 5th. Ouch. Edit: I see he got the last 2 outs of the 4th too haha.
  11. They are a much better hitting team than that. Sure with Bour Realmuto and Dietrich. All of whom are out of the game. The best available hitter in the next 5 has an OPS of .670.
  12. Rivera and the backup catcher on the bench and the pitcher due. Don't throw strikes here please.
  13. They have 2 MLB hitters in the lineup. Get an out here and we win.
  14. It's 8-0. I'd hope so.
  15. Yep. Now he'll bring him in in the 9th to face 7-8-9 (hoping it's still tied).
  16. The Red Sox lost a series to the White Sox this year. Good teams lose games in baseball. It happens all the time. It sucks, but it does, and will happen. So did the Brewers. Things have gone fine since and before then. Sucks, but it happens. Also, this game is far from over.
  17. Also stupid with an average runner and a bum at the plate down 2 runs.
  18. Why would anyone want to trade Thames? Hes been great. Braum can sit on the bench when gets back except against lefties. No reason for Thames to sit against a righty ever unless hes hurt.
  19. Gun to my head I'd take B, but I'd pass on both probably.
  20. Better the Yankees than any other NL team. I'd be totally fine with him going to the Yankees. Not as high on him as most.
  21. I'm just the opposite at C,SS,CF. I'll gladly sacrifice some offense for premium defense.
